He's not better then Mackie and Tenace still needs more time to develop.

You tried to name hacks, and they'll still be better then Dyson, how about putting him up against our good young players.

So Tenance who was drafted in 2003 we shouldnt judge because he still needs time to develop? But Dyson who was drafted in the same year should be judged on what he has done right now? Hmmm ok...

Im not going to be drawn into a slugging match about whose got the better younger players. Dyson has shown glimpses of some great things to come imo. Has an absolutely leathal left boot. Just starting to get a little bit of game time, but we havent seen him playing an extended role in the midfield so far so its hard to judge.

I for one would definatley not trade Dyson for Ferguson. One for the future imo..

Not under-valuing Ferguson though. Is a player i think we should definatley look at. I dont know how valuable Solomon would be to the dees however. But with Ferguson rotting away in the twos they arent exactly losing a great deal there. Not gaining much either tho.

We refused a trade for Sewell last year (probably a bad move on our behalf in hindsight), so expect us to demand just as much this year. Otherwise, we lose nothing if he stays.
I think he didnt want to come to Hawthorn last year.
Glad he didnt too at that price.
Things change though,he got worse and Sewell got better,we will give you Ries this year.

Soloman is just about finished this year, only injuries kept Ferguson out of our team this year.

Try again.

Last year Ferguson almost went to the Hawks for Sewell, the deal was all but done and only needed the players to sign off on it. At the last minute Ferg's decided not to go, he wanted to stay with us and prove his worth to the team.

Anyway, that's a more likely trade than Soloman.

I doubt if Sewell would be on the table now. Played his best season to date for the Hawks. The Hawks might put Osborne on the table (so Davey at least wouldn't be towelled up by Ossie every time he plays against him! :D ) but, if anything, the Hawks seem to be more keen on Thornton than Ferguson.

Would a trade involving ferguson and chance bateman be any possibility?
No chance, pun fully and disgracefully intended.

Bateman has quietly become one of the most underrated players in the league. Gun.

Ferguson is the third best KPP possibly up for trade this year. Thornton and Polak being the other two.

If you think we're going to trade him for washed-up angry men with no pace, you're dead wrong.
We're in a premiership window, and will only trade to cover deficiencies, such as speed in the middle.

With Nicholson, Holland and Bizzell all nearing or past 30, Ferguson will be valuable so the offer has to be good. We refused a trade for Sewell last year (probably a bad move on our behalf in hindsight), so expect us to demand just as much this year. Otherwise, we lose nothing if he stays.

BTW, Any South Australian teams interested in Nick Smith? He comes with his own cheersquad and everything ;)

Yep lets get rid of Nick Smith, 22, 198cm, 97kg and can take a contested mark. He has had injuries and illness - thus the nickname 4 to 6 - but he finally managed a full season for Sandy and showed that he can take a contested mark and has reasonable mobility. He is a forward/pinch hitter in the ruck so I would not put too much store in his efforts against Sandilands. Neita has maybe 2 years left as our 'gorilla' up forward, Smith and maybe P Johnson are his likely replacements. See what a difference Q Lynch made to the Eagles this year, wonder how the Crows'd look with a gorilla up forward who can take contested marks? The likes of Dunn and Newton won't be ready to play the gorilla role in 2 years time, and they might never be.

As for Dean Solomon he is one of those players who have been found out by the faster pace of the game as a result of the rule changes, and his kicking is average at best and so is his on field discipline. Can't see him getting a game at the Dees ahead of the likes of Bell and C Johnson on the half back flank.

Ideally we'll keep Fergo but if he was to be traded it wouldn't be for Dean Solomon.

melbourne desperately needs pace around the ball.

i wouldn't be surprised if someone like st. kilda offered aaron fiora or a player of that ilk for ferguson.

We do need pace around the ball, though Bartram's emergence and the hopefull return of Moloney from OP do go some way to addressing the problem.

But Aaron Fiorra. No thanks. Has pace and reasonable foot skills but needs to be given the ball on a platter.
