Any chance he'll be staying? The underlying sentiment from what i've read in the media is that the only chance of him playing AFL next year is at another club. Is it Gamble wanting out or Geelong wanting him out? He's a patchy player but could come in hand in the next few years.

given how much of the draft is going straight to the GC he'd be a good chance to get taken by a club with a late pick, still young enough to take a... gamble on. *shakes head at terrible pun*

Would really only be a depth player if he stays, and I think he wants a little more than that.

Gamble is not a defensive player. He is still a potentially good half forward though. The year down back would have done him a bit of good in that he knows he must work on that defensive part of his game, but his bread and butter is in his creativity and ability to slot a few goals. I still give him hope, but he needs to put in some hard yards over pre-season....I think he can.

I know what we should do.
Give him a 1 year contract.
Play Gamble all year at full forward and slam the pill down his throat on every occasion.
Let him kick 70. GWS will grab him and we'll get something decent :)

nah if GWS want a guy who can kick 70 behinds in a season surely they'll go for Cloke :p

Gamble is a spud

I'd put him in the same category as Playfair and Charlie Gardiner

Comment coming from a local champion no doubt. Love it when morons get on these boards and bag guys that have actually played AFL football when most of the posters would struggle to walk up a set of stairs unassisted. Archangel = moron.

You're obviously his mate, so to put it a nicer way...

Ryan Gamble is not up to AFL standard at this point in his life with the Geelong Cats.

I like Gamble and hope he stays. He has some class about him. Remember that goal against the doggies in 2008 that got us back in the game? Sidestepped a few and kicked a smooth sausage off his left.

Give the kid game time in his actual position. Get rid of Stokes - I like him but he is not good enough in the forward line. Would be a decent winger though imo.

From now on, only AFL players with more experience shall criticise other players........

I agree with this post
He's a medium sized forward pocket that plays tall.

I think that the likes of Menzel and Duncan, Bundy and Muscles Motlop coming through as forward flanker types, Gamble will be hard pressed to get a senior game imho.

I was all for trying him down back , but its not for him. The fact is he is a 185 player that need to be 195 to play the way he wants to. Has he got a spot at Geelong? I doubt it not while SJ is in the side. He will go elsewhere and play well. Crazy Vossy should have tried to get him because he would have been better value than some he drafted.

Needs to start believing in his ability and up the work rate a little if he really wants to play regularly at Geelong. Reminded me initially of a young Bernard Toohey.... but unfortunately has gone missing in past season and a half.

Hope we don't find any of your posts decrying a certain Mark Blake, but that is something I feel strongly about.

Just reported on the AFL website that Ryan Gamble is to be delisted along with rookie Ranga Ediriwickrama. Trent West to be offered a new two year deal.

You've got a big mouth newbie, watch out it doesn't get you into trouble.

I can comment on any player i like, especially Geelong players.

As for getting up stairs, I could carry you, your mum and a slab without breaking a sweat:thumbsu:

So, by extension, you can only criticise an AFL player if you have in fact played at an AFL level.

He's gone.

Cats assistant coach Blake Caracella tells afl.com.au that Ryan Gamble has been delisted: http://afl.to/d1zKfZ

I actually thought he had some talent to be honest. Would be a good pick up.
