That's where the discussion begins and ends.

Everything I have read since he came over is that he's well and truly settled in Melbourne. Why would he want to leave?

Why is it that Crows and Power fans think every SA born player wants to come back?

I guess its the same the otherway if you listened to Fox Sports commentary every player on an interstate list is dying to come home and play for a vic team on the MCG.

I think there were whispers years ago which have stuck, I gather that happens to certain players and regardless of what they say people will always think they are one hissy fit away from moving home (to which ever state that is)

We'll fight you for it then hey......He is a classy player, one of the best flat out kicks from 50.

Whats he worth?

Something good and more if you are heading off the deal, he's already contracted, Whoever drafts him if it happens, will have to make a solid offer.

Problem is Do the Dogs need to trade, probably not.

there's a huge chasm between our youngsters compared to ports.

you disagree our list isn't very nicely poised for a sustained period of success? when tippett and walker are jostling for colemans, i don't think your stopgap solution in barry hall is still going to be around.

I guess this was directed at me?

We have some talented young forwards who will be able to come into there own once our stop-gap pulls up stumps, but in the meantime we will allow him to do his stuff and let the kids develop at their own pace.

are these kids of the same pedigree as the names i mentioned? i'm due for a solid chuckle.

I wouldn't think 'vast' chasm was the way to describe it. Maybe your in front, maybe not. Neutral commentators in the media have suggested they are very level. The assessment really goes up and down with the immediate success of the lists, and the amount of space in the sides to accomodate them.

Port's got a mixture of some cream at the top and some real poo at the bottom. Adelaide's got some cream at the top and some decent stuff a class or so below. Deeper, more balanced group. KPP stocks are poles apart though.

There have been mutterings that he's homesick for years; and the death of his father last year apparently made his desire to come home and be near his family stronger; but that could be bullshit.

If he was desperate to come back to Adelaide, and Knights wanted to leave, I'd say Knights for Griff, and probably a second rounder, would be enough.

That's assuming he's desperate to come home - if he didn't want to, you wouldn't let him go without us over-paying hugely, which we wouldn't.

Ignore the insecure/rude bulldog supporters posting here:

Griffen is out of contract and is refusing to sign until the end of the year, unfortunately that means he might want to return to adelaide. I would love dangerfield but he is untouchable so I dont know what player or combinations you can entice.

If it is PA I would not mind one of Boak or Gray plus a pick of some sort.

Lets compare the best under 23s of each club
Adelaide
Ricky Henderson
Matthew Janesch
Taylor Walker
Kurt Tippet
Andy Otten
Tony Armstrong
Patrick Dangerfield
Phil Davis
David Mackay
Brodie Martin
Jared Petrenko
Rory Sloane
Will Young

Port
Mitch Banner
Travis Boak
Matthew Broadbent
John Butcher
Robbie Gray
Hamish Hartlett
Matthew Lobbe
Marlon Motlop
NIck Salter
Jackson Trengove
Daniel Stewart
Paul Stewart

Sorry to say these youngsters are not comparable at the moment
Adelaides youngsters list is far superior

I get the distinct impression OP is a troll.

I'd trade Bock for Griffen, but that's a terrible deal for the Bulldogs, and this nonsense about relative quality of young players is just... nonsense.

It would take Griffen demanding to come home to get him, and we would have to deal fairly - guess which teal team is going to have a PSD pick before us?

There's not much to offer that the Bulldogs want, and we can really stand to lose.

I was also due for a solid chuckle. Then I noticed a thread on the Crows board discussing Ryan Griffen. I opened it to find words such as 'tri-colours', 'Bock' and '3rd round pick'.

It was just what I needed :thumbsu:

yeah when I want a chuckle I just read the grand history of the Western Bulldogs

thanks for adding to the thread :thumbsu:

why would we trade Bock to WB... Bock is either going to re-sign with the Crows or go to the GC...i would think that he would be going to GC moreso for the money, and very much less so to get out of Adelaide and AFC, so unless WB can match what GC would offer, there is no reason why Bock or WB would be interested in that deal.

iirc doggies were very keen on mc kernan with their next pick in 2008 nd. he may well come into consideration with a possible trade along with knights and/or crows first rounder

mc kernan + knights = griffen

roughly you would think however the doggies may not realise full market value if griff heads home

What is in your kitchen sink? We would be after pacy mid's with good skills or very talented mid-sized forwards.

Not sure what you could offer us, but by all means have a go at it.

How about Gunston?

Or to be really controversial but get guys to the table and talking.. Henderson?

I'd be prepared to sit down and discuss both with the dogs. (sorry lads I don't have a say ;P)

Sorry mate I'm ignorant to what that means?

Being a rookie pick we can't just trade him like other guys? As in some kind of limitation?

Or you're trying to talk down Hendo coz you don't want him gone and you're saying bah he's only a rookie - won't be enough to land Griffen?

We are looking ok in the big man area so that would be a no on McKernan.

I was at the 08 draft and although McKernan was high on our list of priorities we were rapt with the kids we selected.

Possible options.

It will be interesting if we go down the trade path, but I am confident that we will re-sign Griffen.

I'd like Knights at the Dogs since we don't have enough lefties, any chance he will return to Victoria?

Griffen is too good to let go but we might be able to get a 3 way trade going.
