Interesting article in the Sunday Times today (I cant find it to link it :( ) What initially shocked me was that it was a positive article for once. Basically the article said Ryan was afraid to fail and was gung-ho to succeed, hope his attitude catches a few of his teammates!

What caught my eye and maybe someone on here can explain it, Ryan has put on 7kgs and now weighs 89kg and wants to put on another 7kgs!! by season start 2005. He's 192cm and might well grow a few more too.

I thought first year players didnt do much weights\training etc and were slowly eased into full training over a few years? Given a seasons training and he will fit nicley in at full forward and wont be a twig either. At this stage he's already heavier than both Polly and McPharlap, so he looks like he could be a starter next season. He looks very promising!

It was a great article. I've been following Murphy ever since we picked him at 12 when most said he would go second round at best.

I think he could be Freos first genuine Freo developed key forward of any note.

im sorry put there is no way the picture of him in the paper is him weighing 89kg's. im 1cm shorter than him, and similar build- bit more body weight and im not quite 80kg. i asure u he isnt 9kg's heavier than myself.

The photo might have been taken at drafting time. Twelve months can make alot of difference.

Watched his team play against the Black Ducks yesterday, he looked impressive. Another 6 months of trash food and carbonated drinks will make him into a tough customer.
