The most prominent coach in waiting seems to be Mark harvey. That fact alone should be enough to kill any speculation about sacking coaches.

LMAO@that one Crums

Too true!

naaa 1980, just get the year of the dog, and play it in slow mo, noting down any perculiar, twitches in TW's face, any signs that we can then cross reference to what we see now.
Once you have done that, play it in reverse, just in case TW himself was doing the Death Metal thing and giving the sign that way? ;)

Its an inside joke Cogs- sometimes the man that gives no f... strays on other boards ;)

I'm putting way too much emphasis on one game.

But I just get the feeling from watching our first 3 games that this is the year we are going to bottom out. I was hopeful we'd improve on last year, and show some progress, but it could be a possibility that we'll win less games this year than we did last one.

There have been a number of factors which have already made things very different to last year.

For starters, our backline has been decimated by injury, whilst last year we had a relatively good run with injury (until Browny's leg, of course).

Secondly, our opening few rounds in the draw is a lot more demanding than last year, especially when you start up with the Bulldogs who just happened to have one of those nights that they're more used to see us have against them (remember the Marty McGrath game).

Thirdly, and probably more as a consequence of that Round 1 disaster, morale and confidence is very low.

And finally, maybe our blokes just aren't playing all that well. However, there's nothing to suggest that a close loss to the Saints followed by a 40-point loss to the Eags over there is any worse than where we were at this time last year.

Those that are quoting the Hawks and Dogs as teams that have "leapt ahead" of us in rebuilding are kidding themselves.

DOGS
Still rely heavily on the senior group (Johnson, West, Grant, Smith, Darcy) that have carried them for years, although thats improved greatly in the past couple of seasons. The big improvers on their list who in my mind have made the difference (Gilbee, Cross, McMahon, Giansiracusa, Murphy, Harris etc) have all been around for 4-5 years and were drafted during the time we were trading for *******s like Biddiscombe and King. Their recent season recruits (i.e. those recruited in the time RFC have been rebuilding) have not had that much of an impact, Cooney and Griffen excepted. They have a key group in the 21-26 age group, great core of senior players and a bunch of promising kids. We have a tiny group of 21-26ers, Richo, Brown, Johnson and Bowden as the only key seniors and a bunch of kids. Of course we're behind them, always have been. They started rebuilding 3 years before we did.

HAWKS
Simple answer here. When the Hawks have their senior guys out on the park, they're not a bad side. Hodge, Mitchell, Everitt and Crawford is as good a starting midfield as anyone (maybe WCE excpeted). Their senior guys missed a heap of footy last year and exaggerated the "bottom out". Add to that the imposing number of kids they've taken as 1st and 2nd round draft picks in the last four years and they're well on the way to having a competitive team again. Like the Dogs, they started before we did, unlike the Dogs (like us), their 21-26 age group is also fairly weak.

So for people to say we've been leapfrogged doesn't wash. We had a bit of luck at the end of the 2002/2003 drafts (Newman, Raines, Jackson, Hartigan) after trading early picks for Browny and Sugar. We seriously started to rebuild in the 04 draft and continued it last year. Its early days!!!

Nice work, duck.

I dont reckon you're a 100% convinced about Wallace either. Maybe you've got the same niggle I've got that if things arent going well in his 3rd season, he'll turf it for a media job.

Should we go ask the Dogs board what they reckon ??? :) ;)
LMAO .... if you have a look at thier board you will see i have .

... and don`t worry , thier all quite smug at the minute but i advised it might be worth thier while speaking to a few Sydney people to gauge thier thoughts on Rocket Eade ;)

No! Not Harvey! NFW! Now, THAT guy is a halfwit.

Assuming TW's 5 year plan has now visible progress after year 2, we need to cast the net wide and find someone really smart. Either that or we just kidnap Malthouse.

That much I can agree on with you. He's a frawley dumb walls alright.

He's had one full year and I think we've seen enough of his second year to know that TW is just not in the supercoach class. It's obvious that he doesn't understand the game, why waste time with him? He's had his chance, get rid of him!

By supercoach do you mean like leigh mathews 3 times premiersip coach.
look what we done to brisbane, as terry would say (it's just the nature of the game).

if you think you can do better why don't you apply for the job. LOL

I was at the game on Saturday night and, whilst it wasn't a pretty game, we were terrific, especially in the third quarter and the second half of the final quarter. The vibe in the rooms before, during and obviously after the match was really positive. As we all know, our running, chasing and relatively low number of turnovers was very encouraging, even considering the fact that Brisbane are nowhere near as good as they were a couple of years ago. We should remember our injuries, especially Brown, although Gaspar being out probably helped us!

After that performance, I trust that we all agree that whilst the Tigers aren't true finals condenders yet, we are capable of winning at least eight or ten games this season.

Properly coached - by that I mean team motivation & intensity, player selection, skills & fitness, decision-making and on-the-day tactics - the Richmond Football Club should have a moderately successful year and this is what we should expect.

We still have a couple of passengers and there are a few blokes in our side that are not up to AFL standard, but Wallace did well on Saturday night and is worthy of praise - he did what he was paid to do, good on him.

And that is my point. Our overall playing list is capable of eight to ten wins, whether or not we achieve that is down to the coaching staff, and as head coach, Wallace should be held accountable like everyone else.

Very good post ..... if it wasn`t you writing it .

I am now a very , very concerned member

I shudder to think that we have someone within our club ( this is of course if we are taking your accounts as the truth ) ... who obviously has a beef with Terry Wallace , who instead of dealing with this gripe in a responsible , professional manner , instead decides to vent his spleen on internet forums .

Deliberately setting out in a veangeful manner to undermine the brainstrust we have in place .

I`m sorry 76 gamer ... but the manner in which you have gone about this has been juvenile in the extreme .... exasserbated by your very obvious back-tracking . Wallace should be held accountable ? ... of course . Every person in any position in any walk of life should be held accountable for thier performance .... I`m sure TW would vehemently agree with this .

But that was not what you said in your innitial posts was it ;)

Your best course of action from here on in would either one of two things . 1# ... come clean as to who you are and sort your problems out man to man with the relevent parties .

...Or 2# skulk away and hope that your colleagues at the RFC don`t do the maths and nail you to the cross for what has been a gross act of treason . I`m quite confident that "Pantsdown" is someone from deep within the bowels of the RFC who probably already has a fair idea who you are .

Either way .... Frawley off and stop trying to undermine our football club and what it has set on the road to achieve

We don't need people at the club undermining for their own personal grievances. I know people at the club post on these sites, and who cares if they do. As long as they're not trying to bring this club to their knees by undermining it, i don't care. But this is just blatant trouble-making. And i haven't followed and luved this club for over 40 years just to see some little :D:D:D:D try and destroy it all.

If anyone knows who this dill is, please out him. Or if you have any guts and you have the courage of your convictions, 76G, you will come clean yourself.

Of course the guy is not going to say 'ok I am john smith and I played rfom 1990 to 1994 and am now head boot studder'. I will be astounded if the guy reveals his true identity.

Either he is a past player in a coterie group (possible) or a past player who has some kind of role with the club that would justify being flown up to the Gabba (couldn't be that many). Of course option c is it is all a ruse.

Surely there must be a few people on this site who go to the rooms pre-game (coterie members or friends of players/staff). To take this guy seriously he just needs to verify something that happens behind closed doors prior to the game. For example clothing worn by a player prior to the game, warm up routine, etc.

There's no way 76 gamer will reveal himself. But he could with a little effort verify that he really is connected to the club.

My tip is the guy played a long time ago and is now in the coterie group and has the cash to go to any game he wants. Probably doesn't like Wallace because of the Knights incident.

You're kidding, right? If people from the club post on this site, they should do it under their real names. 76er, pants down and anyone else.

This is not the RFC site and we dont have to read the usual spin under false pretences.
