First of all, if the Bombers can't win it this year, getting behind you lads. Good luck. But just wondering on your thoughts about this.
Who would you rather Ball or Judd? And Goddard or Wells?

We'd take any of them, but you guys had the choice.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I'm in awe at our selections over the years. Our recruiting has been top notch. I have no regrets over those we haven't picked up, because Beveridge uses the wisdom of past experience in making his selections. Those that he overlooks he has reasons for overlooking them. Sometimes those players turn out to be great, but more often, they don't. The few that slip through the cracks is a small price to pay for the greats that we have.

Ball is a champion. I have no regrets about overlooking Judd for him at all.
Goddard is a wonderful player too, you couldn't tempt me to trade him for Wells even if you could clone Wells and throw his clone in the deal as well.

Frankly, you couldn't have gone wrong selecting any of Hodge, Judd or Ball. All three are fine players who will only get better over the coming years. All these threads on the main board about "Judd>Hodge>Ball" etc are merely penis-measuring competitions, and mean zilch. You can't go back and reselect, so if you got one of these three thank your lucky stars, because thirteen other teams didn't.

At the moment, Wells is a bit in front of Goddard, but they play different styles of game, and I'm confident the BJ will prove to be the best available selection from that draft pool. That may mean he becomes a very good player rather than a champion, but that's OK too. If our best team was only comprised of champions and very good players I'd be well chuffed. :D

Nick Dal Santo at 12, Nick Reiwoldt and Kosi are better than any of the above, including Judd. Hodge is a better player than Judd and Ball because he can play anywhere, we didn't have a choice in him as he was already gone.

2001 drafting should be looked at in its entirety rather than isolate Judd v Ball.

For a start Judd is an excellent player bit I am happy with Ball.

2001 draft

#3 - Ball
#5 X Clarke
#13 - Dal Santo
#21 - McGuire
#37 Montagna

All first 22 players.

As for Wells over Goddard. Goddard hasn't shown much yet, but apart from his debut year either has Wells.

Goddard will be a very very good player.

we should have definitely drafted Judd.

Ball was sitting out a year to finish his VCE, and with the 2 W.A clubs to follow with picks, it was worth the risk of taking Judd and hoping Ball fell to 5. It all came to the Weagles selecting Clarke or Sampi over Ball as Freo were sure to take Polak.

Judd, Ball, Dal Santo, McGuire, Montagna and James Kelly instead of trading for Heath Black would have been the single biggest one day recruiting coup in the history of football.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda.

jeebus, imagine that, bloody frightening it is !!!
would Harvs even get a game in a midfield comprising Dal Santo, Ball, Judd, Kelly and Hayes ???
on the negative side, there is no bloody way you'd be able to keep all those guys under a salary cap including Reiwoldt and Kosi.
