TO be honest, I thought we would lose the Port game by about 15-20 pts, and im very happy with the win.

Although, I think the true test is the Saints game, to see if have improved at all. I was not going to be worried if we lost to Port, but the Saints game is the type of game we have been losing over the past 24 months that bring us back to the pack.

In my opinion, we really need to beat the Saints, as Adelaide will be a bigger test. If we lose to the Saints, i doubt we will beat Adelaide the next week and will be right back in the pack.

So for me, Saints game is the game we really have to win.

I agree though. But the fact is the pressure is going to be on Geelong the whole season whether we like it or not.

Thus Far

North Melbourne = Fail
Richmond = Pass with High Distinction
Weagles = Pass with Distinction
Purple **** = Pass
Port = Pass with High Distinction

Every game is a new challenge at the moment and every week we will say the big test is the coming week. Thats the way it should be, Thats the way they should think, as soon as we all start thinking this one we should win is when we will drop it. As good as Geelong are and as much as they have changed there are the old habits waiting around the corner

Are we going to do this every week? It's fecking monotonous.
Well get the hell outta my thread then.
I didn't start those other threads, and this is my opinion ya jackass.

Easy tiger. It's my opinion that the starting of this thread is creating monotony.

Just enjoy the win FFS.

Exactly. 3 hard games in a row, and Geelong usually drop the easy ones. Great teams don't do that.

Why so sour, how can anyone be sour after we just humiliated port like that.
Talk the club up not down.

Richmond and Melboure were both stiff not to win matches this weekend. That's 15th and 16th. It's still fairly even throughout the competition...it will open up more in the second half of the draw for various reasons.

The saints have been undermanned. They have also made the finals the last three seasons in a row. They will know their season is on the line so personally I dont feel this is one of those type games we usually lose when we supposedly should win it. The saints havent been at their best lately but it would be far too early to be writing them off for season 2007.

This will be a tough game in other words against a finals type side who have their season on the line. We will need to be at our very best again to get the points.

Beating West Coast is of course better than beating Richmond.

But we played 4 awesome quarters against Richmond and only patches against West Coast and a crap last quarter.

Wasn't crap. Broke even. Something we needed to go through...

We do well being the hunter... but struggle a little being the hunted...

IMO the kiss of death is becoming premiership favorites... Every other side please take note... we are not that convincing, Geelong are easybeats.

Only if we let them.
???

If the Saints play men back and flood, how do you stop them? Form a giant human chain on the 50 to shepard them out?

I've been to every Saints game in Melbourne this year. They never start centre bounces with men back.

You beat the flood by getting the ball down there quickly before the push number back after the clearances and centre bounces. Quite simple really.

If Geelong are a geniune contender they will slaughter St Kilda with all their injuries.

I'm still on the fence a bit with Geelong. They are running hot now but not sure they can keep it up all year. I dont care though because am just enjoying it whilst it lasts. :)

You didn't even get my point.

I could not be happier with the win, but it will be interesting to see how we go. 2005-2006 we got into great positions throughtout the year and did all the hard yards, before losing the easy game. So, if we win it means we are heading in the right direction, and if we lose does it mean we are the same Geelong?

Got to agree with you cats2rise , the same Geelong that drop the stupid ones will still be there and will come back at some stage , hope it doesnt , but it will. Its great to enjoy our wins and hopefully we can keep it up but we will drop the games we shouldnt , its our nature
