Saints playing finals at the G

We should tank the Melbourne game to fuel the fire. Then come out week 1 and crush whoever it is :D

This will be my Childrens first game at the MCG. I hope they dont have to watch two teams sitting cross legged staring at the ball that has just been thrown up.

( If both teams tank , what happens )? :D

You do realise that if we lose because we were AIMING to lose, it wont do shit?

We need to get beaten without expecting it for it to do anything.

And I know you were being sarcastic so don't worry lol.

Good GOD no. Just a fake loss to lull other teams into a sense of security... and pounce on them. Or not whatever wins us the grand final :o

Yeah uhh this one might be a tad more important to win don't you know.;)

I think what tonight proved was not that the MCG is an issue but the smaller gfounds like the SCG where we can be caught by a lack of space (and time).
Can anyone remember Clint Jones kicking on his right foot this year......happened twice tonight. He usually feeds it back to someone in a better position.

While ground dimensions can definitely make a difference to game styles/plans I don't think weather conditions are as important.

In the bad old days of the 70s, 80s and probably very early 90s when some grounds were bog heaps it would certainly bring goods teams back to the lesser teams (Saints watering Morrabbin comes to mind when they were woeful) but these days with the excellent drainage, if a team is mature, strong bodied, skilled and well drilled (all things that St Kilda are)then I think it makes them even better than the lesser teams.

The only real factor IMO is wind affecting field kicking and goal kicking but it is the same for both teams. Geelong is experienced in playing in windy conditions but it doesn't really matter as being windy at the MCG is a lot different to it being windy at Kardinia Park. At Kardinia Park the wind tends to blow one way or the other in a pretty straight direction whereas at the MCG it tends to swirl around.

Bring on the finals, I love September, nice sunny days and the smell of cut grass.

More importantly that game in round 22 at the MCG needs to be moved from Sunday to at least a Saturday. The possibility of only a 5 day break coming into the finals is ridiculous. But knowing our luck, it won't.
