Kildonan
Premium Platinum
St Kilda recruited two players in the trades period:
Shane Birss and Michael Gardiner from Western Bulldogs and West Coast Eagles respectively.
In both instances the Saints gained these players for less than expected for the quality of player involved.
The reason for this (apart from astute trading and these players' histories) is that both clubs were acting in the players' best interest.
Firstly, this is a good sign for St Kilda - that the players were respected by the club trading them and suggest that despite their status as non-required players, that they were liked enough for the club to go to the effort of ensuring their careers continue, and secondly it engenders goodwill between our clubs. (At least at the trade table).
Congratulations St Kilda for good trading.
Congratulations to both Western Bulldogs and West Coast Eagles for some of the simple niceties that often are lost in multimillion dollar businesses.
