Autopsy Saints v Dees

He took 2 lists that already were stacked with potential.

This is a totally different kettle of fish.

If we fail to make finals, he does not see his final year of contract.

The list and the moves that have been made over the last 4 years are his and his team.

There needs to be some accountability.
Yes he does.

Listen to ANYONE with half a foot inside the tent. This is about 3-5 years.

We have a strong core that just needs to play together - it’s why you won’t see sweeping, reactive changes to the squad.

It’s about reps and building consistency.

He is good in a press conference. Just knows how to bat it away and keep the club from the sharks.

If we keep losing we will be back to being irrelevant again playing in the Fox Sunday slots, that will help keep the sharks away.

We have had two games on Ch7 last Sunday night and the Sunday arvo game today and haven't delivered on what we promised.

At least they have been close games but we need to win some of these games to stay relevant to keep getting the FTA timeslots.

Is there a team in professional sports, anywhere in the world, with a greater capacity to disappoint its fans?
We are now staring down the barrel of another failed season. 0 and 2, with GWS away, Brisbane off a bye and back to back away games in Adelaide to come. Barring a massive turn around in form, that's zero wins from 6 games. And we are not a team like Geelong or Brisbane or Collingwood, with experience and composure to turn a poor start around.
So through a combination of our own poor efforts and a tricky fixture to start the season (thanks AFL), and for the second year in a row, the season is pretty much f*cked before its had a chance to get started and before we have even had a chance to play an actual home game on our actual home ground ( I know we asked for R0).

Four players going at one footy is a combination of composure and footy IQ - not coaching
Nah, that’s basic local footy coaching, embarrassing to watch full-time professional footballers do it.

Missed tackles by our skipper all day, midfield being outworked all day, we got what we deserved. Imagine if we play a team with real forward line talent, we will have 200 pts kicked against us.

Well I said it in the gameday thread, but I am sorry I led you all on about how we looked preseason.
The shanked kicks, the incomprehensible dropped marks, the incredible turnovers, haven't seen any of that at training.
Quite simply they have SHIT THE BED, gameday.
It looks like 2021 all over again. I can't tell you all how sorry I am. I am honestly perplexed by what I have seen these two games.

Maybe it’s the fickleness of the fans?

Started watching Ross' post game presser just now and had to stop...

"I did say to them, Paul Roos went to a premiership on indicators, dropped marks, fumbles and tackling efficiency, so if we just dive into those, we're on the negative side of the ledger".

campaigner I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU AND PAUL ROOS DID 21 YEARS AGO, THINGS CHANGE.

Collingwood killed us last week on rebound and with speed after we picked 4 tall defenders and 2 rucks, then when one of our rucks got injured, you replaced him with another tall. Keeler coming in was the wrong choice, the game is more rapid and heavily weighted on running than ever.

Carroll is not accountable defensively, this feels like another attempt at a Riley Bonner type back, just ****ing play Stocker who is actually accountable and tough. We've just had Webster retire, we don't need another link up running back/wing type, we need a hard nosed defender for smalls and mid sized forwards.

With Ryan and Phillipou getting injured, our taller team was even more under the pump, and it was obvious we left ourselves open to that after last week.

Last weeks loss felt like a learning experience and a bit of inefficiency and growing pains for a fair bit of change to the 22, but also highlighted the risk of going too tall with this new 23 bench season and fast, rebounding, high scoring play we've seen.

This weeks team and loss just feels kind of like arrogance from the club/coaches.

One of the best one liners i have read on our forum. :)

Everyone goong off on Keeler, because of one contest, which was admittedly embarrasing. Asides from that, i reckon he was ok on limited game time
Got monstered in every contest, seems to have no balance or strength in his legs. Can't see that changing.
Prefer to see Dodson in the side.

Tauru in another 20-30 games will be an absolute gun.

Yeh if I was right about this loss I was wrong about Camma, appalling today.

He was but wtf was no one ever in the leading lanes?? Thats one thing that Stocker would definitely do at times. Probably best to quit the Carrol experiment. His kicking isnt that much better than Stocker to justify him

If we miss finals this year after spending millions and high draft picks to get established players then you best believe that heads should ****ing roll.

All the talk about being disruptors is pathetic. You have to prove yourself on the field. And we are 0-2. And our next two are GWS and the reigning premiers.

People that want to drop Tauru are crazy lol

Chased down Pickett, never gave up and managed to prevent a goal with the effort.

You can’t teach or coach effort, you can correct iffy kicking.
Yeah thought he gave it his all in the second half. Kid is still coming to terms with how good he can be.

RTB seemed very relaxed about the state of affairs in his presser

He is on good money and probably has a more secure job than most other AFL coaches, at least as long as Bassat is president.

That could be part of the problem, he's too relaxed, he needs to be put on notice to get his edge back like he had in 2009/2010.

The game plan is shocking. We look rudderless. 4 players going at one ball while other sides have players standing back to receive the pass. We have 4 forwards crash each other, three defenders all go at one player etc.

There is zero system or cohesion.
Yep always seem to get smashed on the outside of a contest ..... all getting sucked into the player with the ball and the opposition always finding an easy outlet .... got killed today with Dees players running forward from the contest

Why is Robert Harvey in charge of the forward line? That's been our most dysfunctional area for years now, and nothing has changed.

Why was Enright moved from defensive coach. We had a top 3 backline in back to back years and now it's shithouse.

We are not fit enough and didnt run hard enough defensively.
This is the bit that's as worrying as anything else.

After Lyon talked up the pre-season, with 15 players beating PB's in the time trial and plenty of new blood in the squad, I was actually expecting a start like 2023.

Not necessarily 4 straight wins, but everyone looking hungry and fit, defending and running hard for 4 quarters.

That hasn't happened.

There's not enough fire in the belly.

His edge is extinct along with his game plan and any ability to impact the game positively

It's been 2 games.
