Autopsy Saints v Dees

I was wrapped to see Ross back and all of the expectation of success that came with it.

The game has been lost in the coaches box two week in a row. So, that’s on him. If he and Enright don’t show marked improvement over the next 8 weeks I’d question that they’re the people to take us forward

If he can kick 2 or 3 goals a game in the forward pocket eith a dicky knee, then let him play. We have him for two more years. Might as well extract the value whilst we can.
Ryan Injured...Butler injured...Nas can fill their boots with one leg.
Better that, than lengthy phone calls on the sidelines helping Ross the boss with his Sudoko and crosswords.
Probably a worry if Collard isnt playing this week. Hes 4th year isnt he? If hes not getting a game now...

Except they didnt spruik themselves as the best ever or that they will definitely become the best.

My point is just you need to walk before you can run.

Motto's like take out all the hard work that is needed to even get to the final opportunity to become the best ever.

I know. They are such failures for not achieving the long term club goal by round 1.

Let that be a lesson to everyone. Long term goals are pointless and you should never have aspirations to be better.
You can set whatever expectations you like.

But meeting them requires delivering your end of the deal, showing progress through action.

No one expected them to be “the best Saints ever” two weeks in. But their actions so far don’t reflect that mantra.

Haha, yeah...I forgot all about him to be honest.
3rd year. I thought...but it doesn't really matter, you're right. He's should be getting a gig a bit more regularly at this stage.
See how selection goes this week.

To be fair i was renoing the house yesterday so was in and out of watching but the Pies game it was GLARING.

All our boys either go to the ball (dont hold space) or run forward of the ball. Watching the pies go handball (to the space they know is theirs) handball (to a running reciever) and then have space everywhere with players one out or open EVERY ****ING TIME was painful.

For a defensively minded coach Ross seems to have no idea about modern defence.
Just dumb footy on every line. Every phase. No one wants to roll their sleeves up and do the yuck work.

“We want to use our pace”. Proceed to make the ground narrow so that we run into defenders coming off the mark.

Small forward line. So we move it slow to the top of the square.

Recruit talls to become a strong intercept side. Have the oppo cheat forward and ram the ball down the throats of forwards one on one.

Who actually thought things would click instantly with a new team? I’m disappointed af but we’ve played like dog shit and lost 2 games by 2 kicks.
True but in the scheme of our first 6 weeks they were very winnable games that you’d argue we HAD to bank 1 if not both of.

Problem is we have done it every year for 15 years.

2012 = 2013 = 2014 = 2015 = 2016 = 2017 = 2018 = 2019 = 2020 = 2021 = 2022 = 2023 = 2024 = 2025 = 2026

The desperation at the start of the year just doesn't seem there.

Stats are we are one of the worst starters to a season.

Long term goals are usually made up of a bunch of short term goals, i reckon winning a game would be one of ours and thats not happening at the moment.
You can keep your long term goal even if you arent quite reaching the short term goals yet. It's not an either/or. You dont have to achieve a certain amount of small ones before you unlock the ability to set a long term one.

So no one is working less hard at the club because of a long term objective and goal that has been set.

Setting a future objective then coming up with smaller things along the way to achieve it is goal setting 101.

How long has Corey Enright been in charge of the gameplan? Because we functionally look worse than we have for years.

Maybe he's not the supercoach everyone thinks he is.
Yeh I reckon I listened to him on the howie games last year and he was just REALLY unimpressive. Obviously that’s not cause enough to get rid of him but a bit of the sheen is worn off.

Sure, you can also just **** up enough of your short terms goals to render to long term goal pointless.

We’ve been here before and we’ve only translated it into the ultimate success one time in 150+ years. Every aspect of our historical performance and the difficulty of success would suggest we’re gonna butcher it before we achieve it.

Not really

We have played some appallingly ugly football under Ross v2.

We've looked lost and rudderless. Not all the time, but often.

It's round 1. The actions about whether or not the mantra will be fulfilled come over the next few months to see if our issues can be improved. You don't abandon the long term plan or aspirations just because you encounter some road bumps early on.

I wouldnt have thought two close losses and rd1 was enough f*ck ups to abandon all future aspirations and render all ambition pointless. But maybe your dream journal has a different goal setting instructions then mine.

And yes, history says we will probably fail. We usually always do. But is that a reason to never try? Or to stop trying the minute things don't go as we had hoped? If we stop trying because history says we will fail, we might as well shut down the club now because there is no point existing.

We have won games with significantly less talent than what we have had play for us the last fortnight.

So it speaks to a massive issue because it would seem the non negotiables aren’t being delivered. Such as effort both sides of the ball etc.

Were pissweak in the contest they did whatever they liked.

Bruise free saints embarassing

It’s 2 games of football and after investing $4m worth of talent. We are 0-2 and significant themes are starting to emerge.

As I just posted above. You can set whatever theme you want. But actions under pin and deliver them.

No fan in their right man can argue the actions that Ross prides his teams on are being delivered every minute of every game.

And if players can’t do that. They can never achieve whatever aspirations they set.

Sure

But I'm saying functionally we've looked terrible at times over the last few years. That's what I was specifically referring to. We just have.
