Genuine question...do the umps actually go through the game afterwards with the umpire bosses to discuss where they might have done better and what they missed? Is there any accountability? Because I just had to shake my head ( and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone) when Schwab ( I think it was) came out and said nothing was wrong with the umpiring of this game. It defies logic.

They go through the game twice I believe and there is plenty of accountability. The best 27 umpire each week but the quality below them is getting worse due to less and less umpires doing junior and local footy. No idea about what Schwab thought but I thinking making umpires fulltime would mean a lot of umpires retire and obviously the ones below them aren't as good.

Richo was very diplomatic but he definitely got his displeasure across.

I know it's a hard job, but all we ask for is even handed decisions...and I don't mean an equal free kick count. Just adjudicate the same way for both teams.

AFL is crap as in the umpiring is highly subjective.
Picture a world where everything is illegal, and the police can choose who they charge.

That's the nature of a game played only in one country, where the rules change often and on a whim. Even the fact that our first game was played with no bounce while the others had the bounce, makes it an unequal playing field.

It is subjective and open to interpretation so the best we really can hope for is consistency...at least throughout one game.

The subjective stuff is horrible.
We used to have a rushed behind. If you did six in a game you lost a goal.
Now we have another bullshit interpretation

Just watching the match highlights , were scores tied at quarter time two goals each , I thought one side might have out played the other and maybe deserved to at least had an extra goal shown . Also the Eagles first goal , wasn't that holding the ball or illegal disposal by the Eagles player just before his team mate ran into the open goal , bit hard to tell and couldn't expect the umpire to pay a dodgy free kick against the Eagles at any stage.
