Steele ran laps yesterday so not sure if he’s even a guarantee to return this week

Probably need the extra mid in. Hugo is going to have to stand up again in a big way. I guess we could always tag Wines out with Windhager and send Hugo onto Rozee and let Macrae go to work.

Port Adelaide have only really beaten us one way lately - clearance dominance and quality. They and Brisbane beat us this way. So we need to be much, much better at breaking even at clearance and preventing conceding quality, front-of-stoppage clearance than we were last time out at Adelaide Oval. Otherwise, I suspect, nothing else really matters.
Yeah you're bringing back bad memories

Would imagine Windy goes to Rozee and Macrae h2h with Wines. Hugo on Mead/Rioli/speedy mid

That would actually be a pretty solid match up. Rioli and Mead don't attend a heap of CBAs though. Probably thinking of Drew?

If Steele's out again, I suspect they just roll with Jones on the inside for the whole game this time and have a quartet of Macrare, Windy, Garcia and Jones. Travaglia on a wing.

Jones seems to need rests on the wing. He drops away when he spends too long on ball. Maybe rotating Stocker, Jones and Hugo through there? Always keeping one fresh. If we can either win clearance or pressure into turn over so we reload off HB we can win this match. Port seem a bit half in at the moment.

We won't have kept them up at night after out preseason showing but hopefully we were just keeping our powder dry for the real stuff.

If Butters is back I don't think Drew & Wines will be in the same cba much so they'll send one of them to Macrae imo

Actually forgot about Butters so it'll potentially be a challenge for Hugo as the speedy mid if Steele doesn't get up

Realistically I still think Steele plays so Macrae to Wines/Drew, Steele on Rozee, Windy/Jones/Garcia on Butters/JHF?

King expected back at full forward next week

Is he running at full pace yet? I'm thinking we'll be lucky to see him until he can play three weeks of solid full pace training/match sim/VFL. Not sure how far that is away but I'm thinking he's training fully next week so a month away from seniors minimum. Only heard that he is slow jogging around the oval so far.

Doubt that they'll throw Butters straight in.

There was an opportunity to get Jones in the middle last week when we were struggling a little bit and Lyon persisted with Garcia and Travaglia. I think Jones doesn't get too many CBAs from here on in.

He's been pretty ordinary lately. Not as worried about him. Rozee is probably more of a worry and Wines is also in the top 10 for possessions this year as well as CR.

Jase Burgoyne their third best this year and has come from the clouds.
Burgoyne is a jet. Hopefully one of our HFFs is ready to shut him out.

He did go in there a lot more after quarter time. After quarter time, Jones replaced Travaglia as the fourth mid and ended up with 48% CBAs for the match, so I think that was a sign of them seeing a need for more experience in there.

Well, you know what I mean.

We watched Josh go last year.
Now watch out for any suspiciously parked cars
tainted
now that car is coming again
And its name is Josh again
Josh Carr!

Port will try to approach him in Adelaide.
It will be clandestine.
The news in the media in recent weeks.
They’ll be sneakier than that.

Onus on the boys to remind how s*** Adelaide is and how much better it is in Melbourne while they’re there 😂

That thought did flash thru my head briefly at training yesterday.

Tomorrow's session will be very interesting.

None of the regular track watcher reviews were up yesterday so I thought I'd add a few quick observations.

I was a little late getting to the party yesterday but the first thing I noticed was big Maxy running around in the main group. (not to be confused with Mini Maxy.....aka....Max Hall who was doing his usual laser foot passes)

I was a little surprised at how well Big Maxy was moving.

For the time I was watching him......I didn't see any contested marking or full on contact.....it may have been occurring before I got to Rsea.

Not long after he was on the outer boundary with 2 trainers working on zig zag running.......sudden stops then taking off again.

Captain Jack was out there but not with the main group.

Brynes and Webby were not to be seen.

Viking and Henry going full throttle.

Dougs doing laps....heaps and heaps of laps.

Long after everyone had packed up and gone inside......Maxy was still on the far side of the oval with the trainers.....Dougs was still doing laps.

Felt like going out and waving a chequered flag as he ran past...yet again.

:):)
