Sally Rugg vs Monique Ryan

Head of neurology unit at RCH
So would be “managing” her staff specialists (who in turn supervise and train junior docs as well as provide front line care) provide some front line service and possibly budget allocation (constrained by higher up executive I would guess)
I know this much, Ryan would have gotten a hell of a lot more respect from her fellow medical professionals. They wouldn't be questioning everthing she said that's fo sho.

You think medical professionals don't question and often don't respect other medical professionals?

You think flying covid positive when your boss is a medical specialist shows good judgement?
not the question I asked you is it
She righly got disciplined for that and she acknowleges that.
she got disciplined for optics
Support for Rugg is definately in the minority.
you know this how?
majority doesn't mean right either
I'm so sick of the pub test line of thinking
It's not correct to compare it to other jobs. It is a unique job. The job description showed what the job was like.
reasonable hours
the whole point of this exercise is defining reasonable hours
We're still waiting for a public figure to come out in support of Rugg, not one yet.
we are?
do you think we're going to get people comment on court proceedings in the media now?
Anyway we will always disagree on this one.
clearly

Of course, but they wouldn't question general directives.
Eg. 'Can you take a brain scan of patient X to check for grade 1 cancerous indications?'
'No I can't Doctor Ryan, I knock off now you do it , and stop telling me what to do'

Many commentators are giving their opinions, it's not a criminal case with a jury.
How come no Labor chief of staff has ever brought up unreasonable hours when that's their supposed core policy? Not one.
Another one, why did Rugg pretend she wanted to keep working for her? Answer = compo

Yeah you're right bro, specialists and surgeons don't bill by the hour. They do heaps of unpaid overtime/work.

This is honestly next level simping.

The thing is Rugg is not the eqivalent of a specialist peer. She's the equivalent of being a nurse to a doctor. Rugg somehow thought she was a co-boss or on equal footing . Even the judge said her wishes on work demands to return to the job were fanciful.

Yep keep shifting those goalposts. It went from acting like specialists would stay past their knock-off to do work without getting paid, to 'yeah but she's not even a specialist'.

Stop it.

Edit: Actually you know what it's my bad, I said I'd quit this thread since you're being an unreasonable waste of time. I'm holding myself to account. I'm out.

I didn't say that at all. I said she wouldn't be questioned about every little thing by an underling in the medical profession.

Going for a bit of defo now I see

Ok here's an article that sums up exactly what I've been saying all along.

"The teals are in a climate war. There’s no time for the bitter tears of Sally Von Won’t
Virtue politics can turn into unending claims of individual rights. The teals need grassroots rural and left activists in their offices."

Pure public hospital specialists generally don’t bill per hour (get roughly a salary).
Though the HMO in the example above would pass the task on to a doc who was on shift rather than necessarily stay behind to organise the test themselves.

I really really would not go there (nurse to a doctor) a smart doctor listens to the nurses, I’m generally an opinionated and difficult s**t but I always listen to my nurses and that has paid forward a thousandfold

My point is Rugg couldn't take directions without trying to change it to her way of doing things. She's not the MP and she wanted the power of an MP.

lol Guy Rundle

If that's the best you can do you're scraping the bottom of the barrel

Climate change is no joke Gralin, Rugg is undermining the fight on climate change.
Are you going to answer the question of why no Labor or Greens chief of staff has ever claimed they are expolited at work even though those parties champion worker's rights?

no she isn't, this is blatantly false
you can fight climate change without exploiting your workers, in fact that should be your default position

Have you heard of the Jenkins Report?

The weekly pay might be a factor for Rugg.
Maurice Blackburn however are there for the class action.

The Jenkins report is about workplace safety.
Yes and there were many findings in it relevant to this situation.

Workplace bullying is rife, the power imbalance between the politicians and their staff, the expectations and entitlement, the fact that every office is run its own way so there are no workplace standards across the board for culture and behavior codes.

The long work hours were also called out as part of the toxicity of the culture and a reason for the increased aggressiveness and poor conduct.

One of the recommendations out of the report was to put in place guidelines and workplace standards that gave a baseline across the board for all offices.

Another recommendation was for a global HR role to make this work and to help remove the bullying and inconsistencies.

Another recommendation was for people in the Chief of Staff role to be driving the culture, pushing back on politicians that were bullying or had unreasonable requests for the staff working for them.

It's more about rapes, sexual assault, sniffing seats, groping, the drinking culture , sexism, misogyny, cover ups and coercion.
It's mainly about men's behaviour.
This is why Rugg is getting little sympathy for her petty complaints.

Climate change is no joke Gralin, Rugg is undermining the fight on climate change.
How, specifically?

You've been running along gleefully relying on the notion of being the thread starter to allow you to attack/derail conversation whenever it begins. If you wish to be allowed to continue please provide a basis for the claim you're making and cease attacking other posters or Sally Rugg for the mere offense of opposing someone you like/support.
