"I was a bit disappointed about going on a rookie list because I've been on a senior list for five years but I can't knock it back"

What did you guys think of the above quote from our new rookie listed player?? IMO that is a very average thing to say for about a club that has just given you your second chance at AFL footy.

I don't his attitude already.

Comments, thoughts?

The Cat's usually only draft players with a good character.
Either they never talked to him before drafting him or the media has made it sound different to what he actually said.

I don't have a problem with his comments. At least you know he'll be busting his gut in the VFL so that he can get promoted to the senior list at the end of the year.

Also,it's refreshing to hear a player not come out with the standard lines every bloody recruit comes out with. He's honest.

Well done Sam :thumbsu:

He is basically being honest. Disappointed to be on a Rookie list after being on a main list. He is also glad to have to have another chance but he probably is aware that his reprieve might only be temporary if he cant impress.
To be honest he is lucky to even on a rookie list, if he cant crack it in the AFL after 5 years theres not much of a chance he will ever. The fact he came from a team light on KP backmen tells you that he just isnt good enough.

Yet by some accounts, Sheedy didn't exactly give him a fair go when the boy was promoted to the seniors, let alone play him as a key backman.

If you ask me, he's proven he can play as a key backman at VFL level, but hasn't yet made that step up to AFL ranks. Who's fault that is hard to say, but I've enough faith in the club and in what I've seen of the kid to give him another shot.

True when he did play in the AFL he was played out of position but even so he looked lost in the game, he did show a little bit against Carlton in Rd 21 which is probably the game that earnt him his rookie place although eveeryone was getting kicks that day. I would've prefered Sheedy to keep Hunt on the list instead of Henneman but he clearly plays favourites :thumbsd:

i actually quite like those comments.. he's brutally honest and it indicates that he'll bust a gut to get promoted

At least he hasn't come out and said that "I supported Geelong when I was a kid" and "I use to go to a lot of Geelong games".

The last recruit that said that lasted 1 year [R.I.P Squibs career].

Which one was this?

Murhpy wasn't alone was he what about big Gerg we got from Melbourne. Spencer was alway a Geelong supporter, Mmmmm apparently our new ruck West always was a Cats man as well cant be too much of a negative can it?
Funny really, I can remember Scarlo apparently followed the Bombers and GAJ followed the Saints.
I think Linger was always a Cat man so there is no absolute

Scarlo's favourite player was apparently Bomber Thompson, so the spin cycle is perpetual.

I think Sam is just disappointed he didn't get onto a senior list in general, not Geelong's.

I would think he would be very grateful to continue his career, whether it be as a rookie or not.

Geelong have got a bargin in getting hunt on the rookie list cause he would have and should got a run in his natural possie rather than getting deadbeats to play a role that we were grooming this kid for.

Bout time aswell someone spoke there mind and all the best to sammy:thumbsu:
