West Coast's Craig Vozzo has spoken about what the Eagles will not give up for Mitchell, which shows what they will give up:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-12/firstround-pick-not-on-the-table-for-mitchell-eagles

This is the crux of it: "A second or third round selection – the Eagles currently have picks No. 33 and 51 – appear the most likely after West Coast's general manager of football, Craig Vozzo, told NAB AFL Trade Radio pick No.12 was off the table. Vozzo also didn't expect Brown or Mackenzie to be squeezed out of the club to accommodate the trade."

I got banned about 9 seconds after it broke.
I think i was banned for saying in response to why we are happy to lose him, that "we don't suffer from a small club mentality".

We don't act out of spite...we do deals and are not campaigner* like Dildodoro or GC. If that is club trolling, then **** me pack this campaigner in

Here's a short list of players who were just " handy "
Hale
Gibson
Burgyone ( and had shot knee )
Lake
Shall we continue or shall we hold off on huge mistake statements?

Maybe Hale, the rest were levels above Vickery and which club legend and current B&F did we force out for them ?

For real? Where was gibbo playing before moving? Need to re-read the lake deal?
Btw if you think vickery & perhaps the impending T.Mitchell & JOM deals have forced out S. Mitchell then I suggest you've read too much hoopla today.

I'm an opposition supporter, but I've been waiting to make this post for years.

Alistair Clarkson is a master class and now he has brought NFL thinking into the AFL.

It's totally acceptible in the NFL to trade legendary franchise players to other clubs when they get to Sam Mitchell's age.

You clear salary cap, you get something for trade and you clear the way for younger players.

This situation is like the Indanoplis Colts trading Peyton Manning to the Denver Broncos. It worked out very well for Manning. The Colts had a number one pick which they used to replace Manning (Andrew Luck).

This is good Business practice.

If Mitchell had stayed at the Hawks he may have retired at the end of next season with no trade value for the Hawks.

Alistair Clarkson today has brought some NFL thinking to the Australian game and it's not before time.

Well done Alistair Clarkson.

If Sam Mitchell has a coaching job at the Eagles after he finishes playing then it's better for Sam as well.

Except for this part:
"A second or third round selection – the Eagles currently have picks No. 33 and 51 – appear the most likely after West Coast's general manager of football, Craig Vozzo, told NAB AFL Trade Radio pick No.12 was off the table" Vozzo also didn't expect Brown or Mackenzie to be squeezed out of the club to accommodate the trade.

Surely this is not right. Our best veteran is more useful than the others, and as one astute poster put it – if we lost Sam for Vickery, then there's something deeply wrong with the thinking going on.

Short of him boning someone's missus, I can't see why he'd be forced out.

And since then the Broncos have played in two Superbowls and the Colts suck. Not exactly a great example.

Andrew Luck is brilliant and has more than replaced Manning at the QB position.

The Colts don't have a coach like Bellicheck. The Hawks will be fine as Clarkson is undoubtably the Bellicheck of the AFL.

If the deal suits Sam and his family, and suits the Hawks equally as well, then both will be winners! Sam has given the Hawks and us supporters so much success over the years, and whatever he chooses to do will be alright for mine. HOOOOORAAAAAA for Sammy!!!!!!

Consider this, it also takes WC out of contention for offering picks and contracts to Mitchell or O'Meara.

Both have nominated Hawthorn, but if WC offer their first and higher pay, it could complicate any trade. This way, Hawthorn can negotiate without a competitor being used to leverage, better picks.

Hawk 787
Don't worry too much about it, a lot of us can say we are clued into families. I once played footy ( poorly ) with Sammy's brother in law. EFM effective freight management.
A couple of other ex AFL players have worked in the company.

Bellicheck has a better W% withOUT brady than with. He is a freak of nature. Clarko catching him tho
