He was a terrific guy before his current situation and will continue to be so.

Rowe to compete in City to SurfMy body is feeling really good at the moment and I am slowly starting to get my fitness back after a fair bit of time off,” Sam told CFC TV.
Currently in remission, Sam’s return to the football field is well and truly on track with doctors expecting him to to resume full football training before the end of this year.
In search of a goal to increase his fitness before pre-season, Sam signed up to the City to Surf with no long distance running experience.
“I am a pretty shocking endurance athlete and although I have been training for one month the most I have run is about 11kms.”
Joining him in Sydney is injured defender Jeremy Laidler, who will act as his motivator and water-boy.
“I will be with him at the start and waiting for him when he crosses the finish line - however long it takes,” Jeremy said.
Keep an eye out on the Carlton website next week for news and videos of Jeremy and Sam’s trip to Sydney.

Our forward structure this year was interesting. It just wasn't much good.If Rowe gets back on the field next year, and with the sighted improvements in Mitchell's shoulders and Casboult (apart from the kicking bit apparently)... we could have a very interesting forward structure next year with a very good collection of smalls, mediums and talls
Rowey completes City2SurfCarlton’s Sam Rowe has completed the Sun-Herald City2Surf crossing the line in a time of 73 minutes and 43 seconds.
In cold and windy conditions the 196cm forward joined tens of thousands racegoers for the 14km run from Sydney’s CBD to Bondi Beach.
“I felt pretty good when I started out, but heartbreak hill nearly got the better of me,” he said.
“I was pretty happy with the time, it would have been great to go under the 70 minute mark but considering I had only been training for a month and have never run that distance before I was pretty pleased.”
Injured defender Jeremy Laidler was Sam’s travel partner and has been documenting their trip for CFC TV, which can be viewed on the Carlton website later this week.

"Goddess"

It’s been one hell of a roller coaster ride for Sam Rowe, and it ain’t over yet . . . but in reflecting on this his maiden season at Carlton, the boy from Walla Walla insists he has little about which to complain.
“When I was going through all the treatment I would see other people a lot worse off than me, so I was never going to be whingeing,” Sam says. “I’m lucky. There’s a lot of people worse off than me and at the end of the day footy isn’t everything.”
Sam, of course, is alluding to the events of mid-year when the discovery a small lump led to the diagnosis of testicular cancer and warranted chemotherapy treatment for the man barely a month or two into his tenure as a Carlton draftee.
“I’ve been back in training for the best part of three to four weeks now, but this was really the first time I extended myself. I wasn’t worried about my time and I certainly wasn’t out to set any records, but I had good fun,” Sam explained.
“There was 85,000 people running, I was probably the 70,000th to take off and I finished around 15,000th overall, which sounds pretty good when you’ve beaten 70,000 home.”
Next on Sam’s “to do” list is a 120-kilometre ride for the Amy Gillett Foundation in mid-September for the Amy Gillett Foundation, and Jeremy Laidler will be amongst a select group of Carlton players also committing foot to pedal. As Sam adds: “This is all money in the bank for me”. . . it’s about getting a good aerobic base in for next year without being silly about it”.
