Our best chance to beat the Sts is with run, not by beating them in one position (ruck). If we play both Clarke and Griff then we loose important run and lessen our chance of a win IMO.

Are you saying we'll beat the Saints by playing an outside game of uncontested possession?

I'm not sure if you've watched much Freo, or footy in general, this year, but we've been humiliated around the ground when the contest is on. Embarrassed. Setting up with a strategy that makes us less competitive in the clearances over the game, but backs 'run' will put us on the path to nowhere.

Watch for the Saints to clog it up and force stoppage after stoppage.

Normally i'd agree with you, however with Hayes out i would back our mids to win more clearances than the saints mids at the moment.. Montagna and Dal Santo, whilst capable of playing inside are better served receiving the ball outside, Goddard rarely plays mid.. Armitage is who is winning their ball at the moment. I hope they clog it up tbh

Any chance that Clarke could be a sub with Griff starting? I know the trend is for a running sub, but the saints aren't better runners than us, I think our endurance is pretty good.
Who to sub out though....

Harvey said it was very unlikely that both Clarke and Griff will come in.

I'll be very annoyed if we play Clarke over Griff, Clarke isn't ready to shoulder the ruck duties alone and its a must win game.

Griff was surely for cases just like this, I don't think the coaches have enough faith in Clarke just yet and rightly so.
