Just watched Goodwin's presser, said "he took a call from Roo just after it was officially announced Sando was sacked basically asking him if he wanted to coach the Crows to which Goodwin told him of his intention to accept a 5 year contract with the Dees, 2 as senior assistant and then taking over from Paul Roos as senior coach for 3 years, to which Roo tried to talk him out of and to reconsider his decision....Goodwin's answer was NO! Make no mistake the Roo was very keen on Goodwin for the job.

Like you though I loved Goody as a player and I think there is every chance he will one day coach us, but now is not the right time, same applies to the Hound IMO.

So they actually don't have anyone lined up..

Dew clearly wants the job, but has not been approached. Bassett being strongly touted. She's still carrying on the "premiership" coach line. Clarkson contracted for another 2 years. She'd be amazed, doesn't see it happening. Bones can't believe they don't have their man in their sites. Caro says we were once a professional football club but now they aren't. Haven't covered themselves in glory. She says we haven't been ruthless. Freo was ruthless but created bad blood. Caro thinks we have been stupid. We've not supported Sando enough. Should have appointed an assistant to help him blah blah.

On Goodwin, didn't he say he wasn't offered the job? Roo just asked where he was with the Dees and Goodie said it's a done deal. Question is, was Roo calling Goodwin to see if he wanted the job.

No if's about it, that is almost word for word what he said, I'm sure Goodwin's presser will be out there somewhere with Paul Roos sitting beside him. I watched it on Fox Sports at 4 o'clock. I've listened to what Goodwin said and the quote from Bicks was completely different to what I heard. He said that Roo called him that night to ask him how far down the track he was with Melbourne. Goody said he was pretty far down the track and Roo respected that and it was the end of it. Vastly different to what Bicks put up there.

Whilst we've been less than impressed with how he's been at the Crows, he has to be an intelligent guy. You don't just fall into the position of CEO at large banks. I'd be incredibly worried if he couldn't walk all over Bone.
