Correct. There's a name on the players jumper's left breast about whom I'm referring to. I went to a very big function last evening and the word getting around is that the club has been advised and Ill use the words I heard, "stop becoming amateur hour".

Apparently they have been put in no mind that after the current contract runs out, so does the money if things don't improve.

Finite financial resources and much more needs to be deployed into the footy dept. we're still paying off the westpac centre and are eyeing a move to a city cite. Quite possibly will be paying off 2 facilities at once. Bit of conjecture there though.

But nowhere did I say the organisers of the event, but they were all there, it was all over the room and I'm only mentioning here because of the amount of people attending, it's bound to get out. No one was drunk, especially when you get there and the first words mentioned are did you hear about.

Reading Tom Harley's comments this morning, there seems to be a consistent theme in regard to the confusion around Sando's sacking. Regardless of the reasons for the sacking, it has been handled very poorly and is shaping up as yet again, a PR disaster.

It comes as no surprise that our sponsors are sick of it.

I heard that interview, and it must be taken into account that Tom Harley and Sando are best mates. There's obviously going to be a lot of bias involved.

Yeah Danger was smouldering at the treatment he received from Lyons, Newman etc. He looked to me like a guy who would have loved to arc-up and just rip into them. I am also left with the feeling that maybe he was/is really pissed that he was put in that position by the club. ie having to defend what possibly appears to be undue focus on the players' end-of-year performance feedback . Hope his suppressed anger is for the Footy Show and not the Adelaide Football Club. It's nagging away at me.

Think VB should have come out before Danger on the footy show to lessen the flack he received. I mean if he is this great super smart captain I would have thought that would have been obvious.

Problem is, VB would be almost invisible to most people outside Adelaide. He is one of the most low profile captains in the league.

I'm not saying the Crows have handled this perfectly, but most of the negative remarks I've read have come from Sando's mates and ex-teammates: Harley, Bomber, Hinkley, Buckley, Mooney, Ling, etc.

I know if my mate had got the sack, I'd be going into bat for him, even if I didn't know both sides of the story.

No coaching dismissal is ever pretty. For example, I recall Warren Tredrea being scathing of Port when they sacked Primus.

The dust will settle, and the media will move on.

Oh come on, since when does sacking a coach end in good PR?

Freo seemed to do alright after they were smashed for the Harvey sacking and subsequent hiring of Lyon the same day. History shows they did the right thing.

Your expecting too much based on negative comments from Sando's mates.

Crows did the right thing and handled it as well as they possibly could in the circumstances.

After watching a few clips of chapman and ricciuto over the past few days I think it's finally dawned on me that Brenton Sanderson was not a strong leader, and his player management and people management was not actually all that good. It makes me sad to say because I always held his character in high regard, but the message coming from the club is he isn't all that he made himself out to be.

My personal unqualified opinion is that he's the type of guy who can build very strong 1 on 1 relationships, but under the pressure of coaching 40 players he's a bit out of his depth.

Ms Wilson made the interesting comment yesterday that CEOs seem to be better at identifying an assistant coach at their club is ready to set up, compared to the judgement of their senior coaches. The CEO at Geelong was apparently always of the opinion that Hinkley was their most likely senior coach in waiting, and Sando was not. But ask the senior coaches and they ringingly endorse the Sandos, the Brendan McCartneys, the Mark Neelds.

People will hear what they want to hear. No matter what the club says, people will either hear garbled quotes, or will shut their ears, or scoff. When Chapman held his presser, he said the review took into account many things, and he mentioned the medical staff. No-one's picked up on that. Maybe they kept insisting Danger shouldn't play, but Sando listened to Danger instead. Could be just one more area of discontent, possibly along with Nobes. But the Club can't single out one area to throw under the bus. People have just jumped on the "player revolt" and run with it, and Sando's mates are going with the communication thing.

The Club can't win whatever it does.

Danger was already booked to be on the footy show so they knew they were going to ask him about this. Then VB and the leadership group were involved in contacting all the players (who are all on holidays all over the place) on the list to talk to them. Once that was done, the next media engagement was going to be Patty on the Footy Show. So he speaks on behalf of the playing group (he was acting co-captain this year so not a problem with that). Then you have VB the next day backing up what was said. No problems with that at all. Considering the short time frame and players on holidays, they got the message out as soon as they could.

To sack someone with 2 years left means there's some pretty good reasons why they did this, this will never be popular with Sando or his best mates, you can't put any faith in what they say. To me Sando is his own worst enemy, even in his presser he said he didn't accept the reasons why he's now gone.

Minus the first season which was an aberration, the results of the AFC under Sando is a reflection of how Sando himself developed and learnt the game.

His career was one of many mistakes, one that took a very long time to blossom, but he ultimately learned to get everything out of the talent he had.

It is clear to me that he is a coach that could only draw on this one experience when connecting with people.

This would endear him to some but make it very difficult for him to connect with the likes of Danger and Tex.

Great coaches can not only draw on their own experiences to guide those who are similar, but also understand those who are different and what they need to realize their talent.

This is reinforce by hearing him say things like the following:
"I still shake my head at some of the things I see on the field on game day, but then I realise these boys haven't been taught yet, or they're still learning"

No Sando... these boys do these things on the field because you assume they learn things the same way as you.

There is a talent to guiding talent and he doesn't have it.

Im surprised to hear you say this. This isnt a PR exercise. The club are actually handling this pretty well, have said what they needed to say, everyone singing from the same hymn book, etc etc. It was always going to be messy. The stuff up occurred when his contract was extended, not now. WGAF what the media think and frankly, Ive never seen a sponsor walk because of a sacked coach.

Dare I say HTFU?
