From last nights game between Norwood and Port

Ive gotta say I was disappointed with Ivan Maric (Port Reserves) and John Meeson (Norwood League). Both of them got no where near the ball last night and from what i saw Meeson took 2 or 3 marks and Maric 1. Im not sure why Lewis is playing Meeson up forward coz he looks like a fish out of water up there. He is a good ruckman and should be played in that position. I think both these kids need time and hopefully will develop into good players for the crows.

Chad Gibson - he was ok but nothing special. He tooks a few marks and played mainly in the ruck with spells at full back, centre half back and full forward. He definately attacks the footy hard and loves the body contact.

Kris Massie - didnt take much notice mainly coz i dont care how he goes. He will be delisted at the end of the season.

Maybe NC has asked Lewis to play him forward as the AFC are looking to promote him a s a forward while he develops

I managed to get along early and watch the reserves in full yesterday.
Griffen was easily in the best 2 or 3 for Centrals. He controlled the ruck all game(albeit against limited rucking opposition). What impressed me the most though was some of his work around the ground. He had great skills for a big man and showed clean hands when marking and when the ball was on the ground. A highlight of this was his goal where he picked the ball up cleanly from his bootlaces 1 grab before wheeling round and snapping a right foot goal from about 30m. He mainly played ruck and was rested in the forward lines

Nye was impressive again although it was one of his quieter games of the year. He played off the half back flank and often pushed up into the middle of the ground.
He always seemed to have plenty of time when he got the ball and showed good composure when in traffic. He also showed good attack on the footy and came up with some nice one percenters including throwing his body across the boot for a smother. His disposals were almost always to advantage and he looks to be a smart player when it comes to zoning off his man and running to space to create a target coming out of defence.

I was very impressed with the look of both players.

In the league Ladhams was very quiet for the second week running, and he wasn't helped when a teammate fell on him from a fair height which seemed to leave him a bit dazed.

Cheers doiler. :)

Great to see Griffen perform so well for Centrals and Nye continue his impressive form.

anyone know how Van berlo went in the SANFL ?

not in souths bests, 19 possesions, 5 marks, 1.1, probably not a performance demanding of a recall as there has been suggestions of in other threads. the kid has had a taste now he has to go back and earn his spot. Begley would be in line for a recall, in sturts best 23 possies from the backlines, which is good ima fan of the way he plays his footy.

Massie...who cares

and the one we all care about - Gibbs 3rd best in the Glenelg reserves in a team that included AFL listed players in Andrews, Schuback and Willts. The kids going to be gun! At this rate of form for him and Glenelg's league side he could be playing league in the next 2-3 weeks! :)

I watched the last quarter of the Sturt v Glenelg ressies. A little disappointed with how Hinge played, but as for Gibbs, he is going to be a champion.
