Could somebody please explain to me how the percentage is worked out in the SANFL ladder. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

While we are on the topic of the SANFL ladder!

- Could somebody please tell me why we are so often recruiting these young players from Victoria, Perth and New South Wales at age 18, when they give us 4 years service and say they are homesick and return home.

- If you have a look at the SANFL ladder, the way it's been the past 4 now 5 years. The Central District Football Club has won 3 of the past 4 premierships, currently sit atop the table in 2004, and yet the Adelaide Crows have not one player from the Central District Football CLub on their list.

Perhaps next year, WE should look a little closer to home, because tehre are some quality footballers being overlooked in our own backyard.

Centrals have won because their players are strong consistent SANFL players who are not good enough to play AFL and therefore don't get drafted

The Gowans brothers are prime examples, along with Graham, Hopwood, Schell, Arnold, Bello etc etc.

hahahaha - Are you kidding me? We had the tossbag Schell on our list a couple of years ago. He is a soft hack when he gets to AFL level. As for the Gowan mongrels.......it would be a cold day in hell before I would enodorse/embrace them as Crows players  - they are absolute thugs.

The Crows also had Paul Thomas oin their rookie list a few years ago.

Southoz, Centrals have been able to retain a solid core of established VFL/SANFL players while still blooding some youngsters.

Some of our juniors have been picked up before playing seniors - Symes is with Port, Butler went to West Coast. Eddie Sansbury did pretty well last year and got picked up by the Roos.

Cam Faulkner has started playing with the Western Bulldogs and should be a Crows target for 2005.

U19's and Reserves went pretty well last year too, and there are still more young guys coming through who are keeping us up the top of the ladder. We've had a few first gamers this year who have done well.

I think Elijah Ware and Dan Coleman (hopefully he will play seniors soon - tough ask) will be the ones to be selected this year. I hope the Crows can get them or at least get Cam. It'll be interesting to see who gets a run in SA U 18 side.

Thomas is unlucky IMO. He looks like he'd make a good HBF at AFL level.

I've seen Faulkner' games to date on TV. While the claims that he'll be another McLeod are overly exaggerated, he will make a good player.

What or who do you think we'd have to give to get him ??

If the Gowans were good enough to play AFL footy, they would be perfect for the Crows. They'd have the sort of cult status The Weed used to have.

We need some solid, tough, ball winners to help out the Roo. We need some muscle in the middle, these types of blokes would be perfect.

They certainly give their opponents a hard time, but thats fine with me. As long as they keep their eys on the ball the majority ofthe time - which they do - and kick goals, they're alright.

Laird keeps them on a tight leash as shown last week when they got taken off. If they werent winning the ball they wouldnt get a gig.

As for Schell, not his greatest fan while was at AFC. However, he has been a solid, honest, productive player for Centrals in 2004. He has worked pretty hard this year and deserves credit for it.

Thommo is very unlucky. He's a fantastic team man. he is keen for another go, hopefully the Crows will give him another run.

Fantasia's claims were a bit over the top, but I saw him in the Dogs reserves in 2002. Great skills and a sharp footy brain. Still finding his feet an AFL level.

Hard to say what his trade worth would be atm.

If he stays in the side, it'll go up but its hard to say how much by.

I havent looked through the WB list for a while, my rough guess is that they really need some talls. I dont know if we have any that would interest them bar Perrie or Burton. Maybe one or two of our excess midfielders.

They weren't Fantasia'a claims. It was John Reid who made the McLeod comparisons.

Faulkner will require a 1st round draft pick or equivelant. :(

Yeah of course, WE wouldn't want the Gowans boys even if they were go gain a little bit of pace and where 22 years old again, We don't like thugs do we. We only allow soft sooks like Martin Mattner, James Gallagher and Brett Burton in our team!

Anway in my initial post I think I was a little misread with what I meant. My point was that the Crows appear to have let quite a bit of home grown talent go from out CDFC way.

- Eddie Sansbury (Played a handful of games already with KFC)
- Paul Thomas (Never got an opportunity)
- Cam Faulkner (Snapped up by the Western Bulldogs)
- Michael Stevens (Excellent player now with KFC)
- Bradley Symes (Looks the good with the Power)

The main players from this season which I reckon the Crows should have a serious look at are:
- Elijah Ware: Originates from Pt Pirie, Aboriginal player who has a lot of flair about him.
- Nick Prokopec: Big body already and looks like with an AFL pre season under his belt, could provide the Crows with a target up forward.
- Matthew Krieg: Young, full of talent.
- Daniel Coleman: Yet to play league I don't think. Only due to our league strength though.
- Paul Thomas: He still deserves a crack at AFL level. He'd be perfect across the Crows back half and would give them a lot of rebound forward similarly to what Hart and Smart have done over the years.

You are aware of a thing called the draft, aren't you? It's a mechanism that allows these players to fall to other clubs. It's not for the Crows to "let them go". (Stevens and Faulkner for instance were taken before we had a pick. Sansbury and Symes simply weren't worthy of a first round selection and had gone by our next pick.)

As for Michael Stevens. Dud. Roundly criticised by both Port and North supporters. He'd be better off serving chicken at "KFC".

On a serious note, I like the look of these two.

The only question with Prokopec is whether he has the pace for AFL. He certainly has caught my eye in a couple of games this year as a strong marking forward.

As for Paul Thomas, we should never have delisted him off the rookie list. IMO he would make a very good HBF at AFL level. He has the necessry pace, skill and rebound to be more than useful.
