SANFL Round 10:

Saturday 29th May
Central v South @ Elizabeth (ABC TV)

* A whole host of Crows listed players will take to the field in this game. Cruely cut after a very promising debut, Jack Gunston will line-up at FF hoping to get back into the Crows side the following week. Ricky Henderson looks to regain touch and match fitness, he's named on the HFF, a possible match-up with Daniel Talia awaits. Brad Symes is named on the HBF for the Dogs, and I'd say this will be his last game wearing Red, White and Blue for some time.

Shaun McKernan is named at CHF as he wonders what he has to do to get into the Crows side for 2010. His form has been a tad inconsistent, but you would've thought he would've played at least one game by now. And the man that'll bring the crowds in, Myke Cook has been named alongside McKernan on the HFF. As the punters caught news of Cook's return to the Panthers, favouritism quickly switched to South. I have it on good authority the Panthers are now at $1.01, still good value there. The South players all rejoiced at having the X-Factor himself inserted into the struggling team, and the CDFC also did rejoicing of their own when the crowd estimates went from 2.5k to well in excess of 10k.

Brian Donnelly is still trying to overcome the effects of the leather poisoning he suffered last week where his double digit possession count was the highest of his career. A league game still appears a good 4-5 years away, but he’s slowly getting there.

Sunday 30th May
Glenelg v Port @ Glenelg

* James Sellar is somewhat surprisingly listed on an extended interchange, he's in no doubt to miss the clash, probably just starting on the pine to get used to his future role with Adelaide. Graham Johncock will serve his weeks SANFL suspension with the Magpies and he's named in the BP. Hopefully some magic from Stiffy is in the works. In the reserves, youngster Sam Shaw will be looking to swing on that powerful left boot of his a good 15 times as he tries to push for a league debut.

Eagles v Norwood @ Woodville

* Rookie Luke Thompson is the lone Crow in this blockbuster clash, the youngster is named on the HFF. Andy Otten will probably be in attendance keeping a close eye on his protégée. He might have been opposed to Will Young but sadly injury has cut the future AA defender down. Jarrhan Jacky wouldn't want to sleep in as he's due to take part in the early game, assuming he can crack the Eagles seconds.

Sturt v West @ Mannum

* Matty Jaensch will be blaring out Shannon Noll's version of 'What about me' as he tries to force his way back into the Crows outfit before becoming the forgotten man at the club. He's named on the HFF and he'll be looking to burn up the Mannum oval. Rookie Aiden Riley is named on the HBF and will look to continue the impressive start he's made to his league career.

North bye (Wright)

Gaza would take North Adelaide's rejects, so Wade Thompson

Jacky would have to go down to Woodille South in div 4
Riggy, you'd know, what the heck is happening with that guy?

I never thought he was that good, he was gifted games by the Power, but he was their 'next big thing' and now he struggles to get a kick in the reserves. I was at his debut game (or was it second...) at AAMI and the Power fans around me were calling him a gun. :o

He's fat
He's lazy
He's got shit skills

all he has is pace

He wont leave the forward 60 besides when running to the bench
He struggles to get 10 kicks a game
But every one he gets is flashy with how he runs around people, and he can fluke the occasional great goal, but he's so bloody inconsistent, you wouldn't want to play him in the AFL, or even SANFL seniors. He does enough to hold his spot in the reserves, but only because of the potential you can see in him

Port wasted a pick on him, Kriston Thompson (his brother) is much better, Kriston can actually hold down a spot in the league side, and actually runs for the ball instead of hoping the ball comes to him

Enjoyed that write up Drum, but you were a bit tough on Cook. He'll draw more than an extra 7.5K. Look for traffic pile ups and police escorts.

Top stuff once again Drummond. Good to see those sedatives kick in nicely.....:D

hmmm, you think we would have organised our travelling emergency prior to that....

Must be injury concerns over someone.

cancel police escort for Myke

On FiveAA Phil Harper said 1 or 2 guys are in some doubt. I'm betting they play though and Cook sits on the sidelines for a week, therefore pushing back a possible return to the Crows. Sick of this happening.

And yes, no police escort required, and the crowd estimations have been brought back to 2.5k, perhaps even a little less, as everyone seems a bit deflated by this news.

The travelling emergency is a double edged sword isn't it.

You have a 25% (random estimate) of playing when someone is in doubt, yet you miss a week of footy, which hurts your case for selection.

That said, you'd take the travelling role with the knowledge you can play AFL footy.

So who are the two?

Thomo probably, given his constant injury issues this year.....and?

Can we get a pharmacist to the Adelaide Board, STAT!!!

Drummond, needs a course of either Xanax, Valium or Rohypnol. :D

On a serious note, I am pretty sure Cook will play if he is travelling. I have concerns about Mackay. :(

And I guess in Cook's case, maybe a weekend off completely void of footy isn't such a bad thing.

And perhaps McLeod is still in some doubt.

Could cause a riot. SWAT and riot teams have been subbed in for the escort.

:p

Mackay? How'd be pull up after last weeks game? I haven't heard anything about him being a chance to miss.

Look I have no evidence on Mackay. He was interchanged around the 3-4 minute mark each quarter last week and I have concerns as to how he may have pulled up. I am taking a punt he may have some lingering soreness. Cook would be a logical switch on the Wing.

It could be McLeod's knee flaring up as well. I will know more tomorrow.

I really hate the whinging about the travelling emergency system.

I'd be the first to state that it isn't the ideal situation, namely if we had a reserves team playing directly before the seniors team like 99% of the history of organised football this would be easy to avoid.

However those who dislike the travelling emergency system on the basis that missing one game will hamper a players development or be to the detriment of their chances of senior selection are plainly incorrect.

One game of football is highly overrated quite simply and the fact that a bloke is the 23rd bloke selected to the senior side indicates that he's closer to being selected rather than further!

Cook wasn't dropped so much for absymal form but rather to allow those in better form to play.

People overlook the simple fact that the primary consideration of the Football Club is the success of the senior team rather than each individual's perfect development.

The reason for a travelling emergency can be boiled down to Ivan Maric's debut!

Wonder who's in doubt, that they had to withdraw him from the Souths game?

McLouds Knee?

Unusual for him to be named on the bench
