Have I just witnessed the arrival of 20 year old Adrian Bonaddio? He simply destroyed the Legs today while playing from the goal square. He was given plenty of space to lead, and playing on Brett Zorzi he kicked 7 goals. Zorzi held Passador to 1 goal last week, and has been in good form, so today’s performance was a terrific effort. He lead well, he showed quite a lot of pace, had very strong hands and kicked accurately. Prior to today he had only kicked 6 goals in 10 league games, but his tally now stands at 13. On today’s form there may possibly be a place for him on next year’s list, but consistency is now the key. Hopefully he can finish off the season well with 2 more strong games.

John Meesen was one Norwood’s best players; his first half was one of the best I’ve seen him play. He had about 10 possessions at half time and rucked quite solidly too. He was dominant around the ground, and what impresses me most are his footy smarts, he really does have great evasive skills and the ability to get his hands free in heavy traffic. He kicked a terrific goal in the second quarter, dodging two opponents and drilling it from 50 metres. In the second half he started brilliantly by taking a great contested mark on the wing. He probably had about 6 or 7 possessions for the second half, and applied a few strong tackles too around the stoppages. He finished with about 15 possessions, 5-7 marks and probably around 15 hitouts. Very promising game from Meesen.

Darren Pfeiffer didn’t fare so well. He was stuck in the forward pocket for the first 3 quarters before finally moving onto the wing. He kicked a goal from 45 in the first quarter due to a free, but struggled to have an impact. His first half was especially quiet, probably having only 3 or 4 possessions. His second half was marginally better, and when moved onto the ball he started having a greater impact. He took the mark of the day late in the fourth quarter, by timing his leap and jumping over an opponent. He went back and drilled it from 50. So he finished with 2 goals, probably about 10 possessions, maybe a little more. A quiet game overall, but he still managed to kick 2 goals which was pleasing.

Is it just me or is Pfieffer a real talent that is sneaking under everyones radar?
Yeh no doubt, as I said all the talk has been about Douglas, which is fair enough. He’s had a good year while playing for the Bays, but Pfeiffer is just an outstanding talent. He obviously hasn’t had the year he would’ve liked due to injury, but we’ll be seeing him in a Crows uniform next season.

Yep Pfeiffer will be a great player for us, I have no doubts.

Also, if he gets homesick we can drive him to Birdwood for the day ;)

I don't think he is sneaking under the radar. Its more a case of "out of sight, out of mind". When he was drafted, AFC thought he would play AFL this year and had the body to do so. Unfortunatly he copped a nasty back injury which pretty much robbed him of the whole season. Add to that a couple of indisgressions and you get the picture.

The kid is a real talent and will be a very good player for years to come. I think with Pfeiffer, Douglas and Vince out of ND and Porplyzia out of PSD, we have once again done a good job at the draft table. Some quality talent there.

i have been to the land of j. hinge, me and Beej have been helping him dye his hair blonde, a colour that shocking takes 3 months to bleach! i dont hope swanfan has a very happy birthday at all

Saw a bit of Hudson on tv today. He competed well around the ground and went in hard but it didn't look like he could get off the ground in the ruck contests. He was relying on bodywork, even at the centre bounces. Probably had close to 20 possessions and that included some time on the bench.

Hudson was pretty good today, kicked at least 1 goal, could've been two. I was very impressed by his efforts, unlucky not to sneak in to the best players at pressos but it was an awesome team performance.

A few of the other young North lads did well today which the Crows could draft (that would be nice as it would keep them in SA). McIntyre is fantastic, like a young Ben Hart. Edwards kicked 4 in the magoos as well, and Matty Campbell was good too.

Yeh mate I’ve been keeping a close eye on McIntyre and from what I’ve seen he’s been very impressive. You’ve seen the most of him on here, do you think the Crows will draft him this year and what pick do you think he’ll go around?

For West Adelaide today, the usual young guys impressed me. Chris Schmidt, who played well for SA in the U/18’s, played behind the ball and did a good job mopping up and rebounding the ball forward. He’s only 17 but is very tall, he’s listed at 185cm but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a little taller. He has good skills and I wouldn’t mind taking him with our first pick. Youngster Caolan Buckley should also be another draftee, he is only 18 and in his 5 senior games he’s kicked 7 goals. He played up forward as he has done in all of his senior appearances, but will eventually be a midfielder when he bulks up. He has great skills on both sides of his body, has a thumping kick as evident when he kicked a goal from 50, is very tough and a strong tackler. Probably a second or third round pick.

I went to Elizabeth oval earlier today to see the Central Reserves play the Glenelg Reserves (final score 17.7 109 - 10.7 67), but most importantly Bernie Vince :D I only caught the last half of the first qtr in which he had 2 kicks, 2 handballs and 1 tackle. His second qtr wasn't that good, just taking his time to get back into footy. He had 1 handball and 2 tackles for the qtr. However....his third qtr was great :thumbsu: 4 kicks, 5 handballs, 1 tackle, 1 hitout and he set up two goals (nearly three but the guy missed). His fourth qtr was good, he managed 2 kicks, 1 handball, 1 mark, 2 tackles and 3 hitouts.

For most of the game he was playing on former Crow rookie Tom Redden, Tom even got stuck into him at one point  Anyway, he played the full game and most qtrs he would rotate between the forward line and the midfield.

So his stats in the end:
Kicks - 8
Handballs - 9
Marks - 6
Tackles - 6
Hitouts - 4

Alan Obst played really well, he was a great target up forward and kicked 4 goals.

Thanks for that Crow*Girl, not often that you get reviews from the reserves games! :p :thumbsu:

Good to hear about Vince, seems like he had a pretty good game and should be back for the Eagles seniors next week. And even better news about Obst, he was always going to be a project player but 4 goals is a great return, even if it was in the reserves. Would love to see him crack a few games for the Dogs and work his way into their team for the finals. Would be a good experience.

Seeing Bonaddio play today made me think it might be worth keeping him around. I have been less than impressed with how he played in general this year but big tall strong marking forwards are hard to find. I'll be interested to see how he finishes of the year.

Leigh Ryswyk was sensational again. Pace to burn on the wing and good disposal into the forward lines. I think he'd be a big chance to get re-drafted after playing 1 game for Brisbane last year.

BTW if WWT wasn't playing this weekend and Knights wasn't going to replace Bassett I'm sure he would have played reserves for a club today.....if he didn't then he's playing tomorrow !

If he was going to play in the reserves he would have played for the bottom reserves side, which is centrals. Maybe the club gave him the week off to catch up with his family in Vic or something like that..
