He needs to play, we seriously cannot keep putting this workload on Maric.

The guy is all heart and he's leaving it all out on the field, but he's starting to look flat out fatigued and exhausted.

Get Griff in, leave him there for 6 weeks and let's decide once and for all whether he's any good, and let Maric have a lightened workload for a few weeks and recharge his batteries.

I think we all wish Griffin could display that sort of performance at the top level. Has the tools to be a really good AFL ruckman. It has to be all above the ears.

Hopefully he gets another crack at it this year and has a good one.

We all said the EXACT same things about Griffin early last season when he was in the SANFL. Go back and revisit those threads, we all said he looked insanely good, just dominant out there. Unfortunately, his SANFL results never transfered to the AFL, he's in his element in the SANFL.

Sadly this is true, his form at SANFL level, especially at the beginning of last year was outstanding, IIRC after the first couple of rounds he was leading the Advertisers Best SANFL player award, winning maximum votes in the first 2 rounds, he was kicking goals, racking up 30 odd possessions, dominating the hitouts. He then got given 2 games at AFL level, he broke even against Meesen and got absolutely, completely and utterly smashed by Brogan and Lade, never to be seen again, until of course the Freo match at the beginning of this year.

Not saying we shouldn't necessarily give him a go, if form warrants and we feel we can play 2 dedicated ruckman, then sure lets see him, but don't get your hopes up guys, there's a big difference between AFL quality ruckman and SANFL quality ruckman. Griffin does have talent, its all about application and the last time he properly applied himself at AFL level, was the beginning of '08.

Isn't it frustrating though?

Sorry, infuriating. To know what he's capable of, to see it, and the to see nothing of the sort at AFL level just hurts.

**** I hope other clubs watch our SANFL Videos before trade week.

Seems to be struggling a touch at the moment, but the club holds him in high regard. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a gig again later in the season, but I don't think he's going to be a big money earner for you.

Driving home after the game mcdermott said on 5aa that sloane "would be breaking down the door for selection".... which leads me to believe that your call is spot on.

In all honesty though he was dropped for a bad game on sandilands. The guy may win a Brownlow this year and in the modern game that is amazing for a ruckman. he is a giant and would have killed everybody that day. His pre-season was good. He finally seems to be growing into his gangly body and putting on some weight. Gangly types take until 25 to develop. Trust me i have grown up around a lot of giants. Someone like Maric was 100K when he graduated from high school. There is still an upside for Griffin if he can learn to take control of his body and start beefing up and getting some llegitimate power.
