Discussion on ruck prospects for 2010.

Idea taken from the DT board, seems to work well.

Ill start it off with David Hille, who appears to be in every 2nd team.

Missed most of last year through injury and is heavily discounted this year at $311k. Apparently did ok in the intraclub match last week although there were rumours of him hurting it again. IMO he is too much of a risk, even with the DPP option this year he reminds me too much of Ottens last year.

I have Ottens and Hille (and Charman as backup)...

N.Naitanui - $304,900

i would rate him higher then D.Hille at the moment.both good opption for 2nd ruck

there other problem is who is going to be your star ruck im deciding over

D.Cox - $590,000
M.Clark - $498,100
K.Tippet - $425,900
A.Sandilands - $538,600

im leading towards K.Tippet because hes value has the most chance in riseing.

I wouldn't be lookin for value with my prem. ruckman. Go safe, although Sandi and Jolly seem to be the only really safe options this year imo. Steering clear of Cox for the first time!

i cant affored to put him in my forword line. so for me its have him in rucks or not at all. (N)

he is about $100,000 cheeper then A.Sandilands
i can spend that money on G.Ablett

Currently have Jolly & Kruz. Thinking about Nic Nat as a 2nd ruck now. Would free up some cash for an upgrade elsewhere. But surely he's not going to do that every week with Coxy back etc. Argh!

I currently have Jolly and Kruezer but am thinking of changing my second ruck to Natanui. Which do you think is a bettre bet, Kruezer or Natanui?

Is this crazy but im running a Sandilands + McEvoy ruck combination with Charman & Warnock as backup. i really believe McEvoy is going to play 15+ games this year and will only go up in value, same as my emergencys really. Can swap them round if one starts playing crap. Can then hopefully upgrade to a Cox or Jolly when they drop in price

I just moved Tippett into my fwd line and brought Nicnat in. If nicnat gets dropped for whatever reason (which by the sounds of his performance yesterday is very unlikely) can i bring tippett in as ruck if need be?

other ruck is the monster from Freo

I'm gonna wait and see about Nic Nat. Having a ruckman who has the potential to do that is rare. I'm glad they won so I can get another look at him because he is so special.

Key thing though he won't be able to score like that with Cox in the side, but Cox might not be able to score like he used to because of Nic Nat as well. Hopefully he will be up against some quality ruckmen in a fortnight which will give us a better idea about his week to week potential.

no, you can only bring in players in the position of where you have drafted them. If you have drafted Tippet as a forward, you cannot use him as a ruckman (unless for whatever reason you traded him out of your fw and then traded him in as a ruckman)

I am sure they changed that this year, so you can do that.

Anyway, I have Hille and Tippett, with either Trengove or Lobbe as my first reserve and Warnock as my last ruckman.

Wrong. Now changed. A dual position player like Tippett, can be swapped from FWD to RUC, if you have injuries in the other position.

thats what i thought. will be interesting to see how it works out....

I actually can't see anything i really like as a #2 ruck. Most sides will be starting a Jolly/Kruezer/Tippett but i see all 3 as being pretty awkwardly priced and a little risky.

At the moment i'm thinking of running Charman with Warnock and whoever else may bob up between now and the start of the season. If not i guess i'd take Lobbe. At least gives me the start of the season to see what happens and find out who's the real deal

This could be suicide however given Charman and Warnock haven't stringed injury free games together in a very long time. For me, the rucks are giving me the most headaches this year, whereas in the past it has been so easy

Yeah me as well I am going in without Cox for the first time. At this stage I'm going Sandi/Tippett but that may depend on how well Nic Nat goes in the remaining games

To do that you'd need a bench player who is also a forward. Either Drew Petrie, Cameron Cloke or Matthew Lobbe. The best option being Lobbe.

So if Nicnat gets dropped you could move him to the bench and then swap Lobbe with Tippet. Then play one of your forward bench players in Tippet's old spot

Yep this is right. You gotta have two MPP's (one in each position) to make a position switch.

I have Sandilands and NikNat as my starting Rucks with Tippett up forward and Warnock on the bench with Lobbe. Happy with this spread and Warnock will play 22 games barring injury i think providing great insurance not to mention Tippett who can also cover.

NikNat is to good a prospect to leave out at this price and it will only go up regardless of Cox in the team as i think as he is so versatile and can play anywhere. NikNat will be a S/C monster with the way he tackles and gets taps while being able to go forward and prove a diffucult matchup while Cox is in the center. The NAB cup form is just a small taste of what we can expect from him this year i think, and Cox is again that 1 year older and had a few nagging injuries last year and represents a huge risk at the $$$ he is.

I've got Kreuzer ATM as my first ruck and jessie white as my second.

I am confident kreuz will improve on last year so am happy with him.

Im not sure weather to swap J white with nicnat...how does everyone expect nicnat to go with when he plays with cox??

In a word, well. I mostly agree with the post above you in that he will score when not playing ruck, but will get plenty of ruck time too.

Also agree that Coxy is a risk and they could end up getting almost 50/50 if Cox requires management.
