I heard when Scarlo made All Australian, Gary Lyon said on the trip they found out scarlett was more than just a backman. Thinking it through with a mate the other day, Scarlo is very quick, a pretty good kick and not many people beat him in 1 on 1 contests. Maybe (a b ig maybe) if we are smashing a team with a not so dominant foward line, i think it would be good to see Scarlo play forward just for a bit. If he kicked 3 goals, everyone would b cheering but if her kicked 0.3, i would eat my words.

You thoughts on Scarlo maybe playing forward sometime in his career?

I don't mind the idea, however don't ever see a time when our defence could function without him.

Hmmmmmmm. I wonder where you got that from  .

As I said to you earlier cats2rise, I think it would be an idea. He is obviously needed down back against sides with the dominant forwards, but since WCE don't really have a dominant forward and Harley is back this week and Mooney should play the whole game down back as well, I think he could get a run up forward.

He is an All-Australian Full Back, why would we want to change things?

I'd hate to see what would happen to KK if he was to play Full Back!!

I see no reason why we can't trial Matty up forward, he could be the answer to our problems. We have Egan coming along nicely to play FB in due time, along with Harley and Mooney. I remember Harley was trialled up forward this year.

the gap he'd leave in defence wouldn't be worth it.

it may be an option in a few years time tho, hopefully we'll have found decent key backs (egan + 1 more), and scarlo can follow in the footsteps of lynch, hall, gehrig, etc.

I do hope if we play him up forward too, that we let him settle there, rather than have him pingpong from one end of the ground to another like what we did w/ our last decent fullback.

Only if we're about 10 goals up and just want to see what happens.....
Like agaisnt WCE on saturday/ Would have been interesting to what happens

I've seen Scarlett go forward occassionally, mostly when all was lost or the odd occassion he's been beaten at full-back (I think he went forward briefly in the preliminary final against Brisbane last year, didn't he?).
He'll provide a break-even contest with the ball coming in high, but looked lost on the lead, although that's probably a combination of inexperience in the position and midfield delivery.

As much as I'd like to see it, because I believe he's improved enough to play there, I wouldn't do it unless we were really desperate (like 6 goals down in a Preliminary Final with a quarter to play).

He's the best defender in the competition and fast becoming the best fullback I've ever seen. One position on the ground I would never change.
