Obviously if wwe get a home final the Swans will chose to play the game at ANZ Stadium due to larger capacity but does anyone else wish they would chose the SCG instead?

ANZ Stadium we have no advantage while our advantage at the SCG is well documented. I think if we want to win the game it is best to play at the SCG.

What do you all think?

I agree. The SCG is our traditional ground, and our finest Finals moments happened there - Plugger's point, and Davis' four goals - plus we have a greater advantage there.

No Brainer, SCG we have a hope, ANZ we lose.

Agreed. Is this a psychological thing, the fact we're based at SCG, the crowd, the ground conditions? As a local, do you have any sort of insight or opinion as to why we seem to perform 'better' at the SCG than we do at ANZ in consideration of the fact that we once had a great record at our Olympic venue(or is it just Collingwood that kills us there?).

Good question. Dont know what the contractual arrangements are,but am hoping that we have fulfilled our game quota at ANZ. A packed to the rafters SCG will
have a much better atmosphere. And i want to hear that Sydnee chant again,
seems to have gone missing lately!

SCG for me, although I probably won't be able to go if its held there. The time to beg has come, it seems.

I would love it if we absolutely creamed North, or beat them by a small margin. I MUST go to this game and just rub it in their faces.

Someone needs to take some sort of witty sign about the 19th man!!

I say this because it seems almost a given the Saints will win, though I suspect we'd have a far greater chance against them.

I find it sad that the last time we played them in the Finals Schneider almost single-handedly won the match for us. :(

Put 19 on the ground...worth the $50,000 to beat the roos:D Actually, it's not for premiership points now so (hypothetically) if it were to happen, what would be the consequences?

I assume having the 19th man on would give them a 50m penalty from the centre and an almost certain goal... and the man would be taken off... as the rule has been since that round..

SCG. Not wanting to get ahead of myself but you can't be playing on concrete in week one if you want to compete in week two.

Dont know what the contractual arrangements are

ANZ Stadium if available has to be given first option by the AFL to hold ANY Finals match that is played in Sydney and seeing as ANZ Stadium is empty next weekend, the AFL will give ANZ Stadium that option and ANZ Stadium will take it. The SCG won't even come into the AFL's thinking when they decide the Week One Final's Fixture.

The club doesn't make the decision here, the AFL does (seeing as the AFL take over the planning and running for matches from the Finals onwards) and the AFL has a contract which states that ANZ Stadium gets first options for ALL Finals to be played in Sydney. Only when ANZ Stadium can't forfill the AFL's Fixture (for example when in 2005 and the Geelong Semi Final, when ANZ Stadium picked an NRL Final over the Swans Final) can the AFL offer the SCG a Sydney based Final.

That isn't going to happen because there are currently no events planned for next weekend at ANZ Stadium, except for now being a Swans Home Final.

So forget about a trip to the SCG next weekend and get ready for a trip to Homebush.

They'll be lucky to get 40,000 at ANZ if they play North and there will be no finals atmosphere. They only managed 40,000 in the 2004 final against the Eagles when they had the thunderstorm. I agree with the other comments - play the game at SCG. The ground looks in great condition and we'll have a better home advantage.

Like everyone else, I'd much prefer it to be scheduled at the SCG. Won't happen though sadly :thumbsd:

We'll be playing at ANZ unless the AFL deems the surface to be unsuitable.

They would be making that decison at some point tomorrow, because by late next week if the ticket sales for the match have outsold the public capacity of the SCG then you have no hope of the match being moved and you have to remember that the SCG is still at a reduced capacity as it is. Thus a decision on the surface will be made tomorrow and that will be that.

I think half time in tomorrow's NRL game would be a great time for a ground inspection.

Amazing what an email, and concern over player safety, and possible legal ramifications, to AFL head office might do !

Do you reckon if a few supporters asked ? by email ?

Just a thought.

Of course, we got Paul Roos appointed, didn't we?

No way that it will be held at SCG with the reduced ground capacity. You chardonnay sippers will just have to make the longer journey out west I'm afraid.
