Yep, I'd like to hear if this medical in Sydney actually eventuated.

If it did I'd imagine Leigh would be a little disappointed at the moment but hopefully it will fire him up over pre-season.

I'm actually quite gutted about the trade given that both Schneider and Dempster are two of Swans players that I see a lot of potential in and would have love to see them playing a more senior role for us...

But what's done is done and for their sake, hopefully they turn into good players for you guys (and getting a chance in the first team - especially Dempster). Even though they are not playing for us anymore, still want to see them do well (just hopefully not against us).

St Kilda Trade Announcement
4:13 PM Fri 12 October, 2007

St Kilda Football Club has concluded its activity in the AFL Trade Week, with the Club today
confirming it has acquired four new players.

In relation to discussions involving Leigh Fisher as a possible trade to Sydney, the Club would like
to clarify that the Swans did show interest in Leigh, however at no stage did he fly to Sydney nor did
he meet with their medical staff in person.

While Leigh was considered an option to the Swans, St Kilda is extremely satisfied to have retained
the young backman / midfielder.

“Leigh is both a quality player and person and the Club is very pleased to have been able to retain
him” Lyon said.

St Kilda has today confirmed it has completed a trade with the Sydney Swans in which the Saints
have received duo Adam Schneider and Sean Dempster in exchange for second round selection,
No. 26 overall in the 2007 National Draft.

The Club has also confirmed it has secured former Geelong ruckman Steven King and Geelong
player Charlie Gardiner, in return for pick 90 in the National Draft.

The Saints are excited to have attained four valuable players, with coach Ross Lyon pleased with the
outcome of trade week.

“We have secured four quality players, with three of them under the age of 25 and their best football
in front of them” said Lyon.

“We feel we have achieved our aim in selecting a balance of players in the areas of midfield, goal
kicking and rucking, which is combined with our aim of developing young players’ Lyon said.

The Saints have retained their four picks in the AFL National Draft, with the Club entitled to picks 9,
42, 58 and 74.

Lyon stated Dempster, a running half back and midfielder, is a superb athlete, and 23 year old
Schneider, who has exceptional pace and goal kicking ability, is expected to be worked through the
Saints midfield. “We see these players to have the potential to be 150-plus game players for St Kilda”
Lyon said.

“All four players have come from very strong and respected Clubs in the AFL, with effective systems in
place that has seen these Clubs experience recent finals success” Lyon said.

Former Geelong ruckman Stephen King underwent a full medical and intensive interview process,
where his desire to continue his career was evident.

“Steven still has 2-3 years of good football ahead of him and his leadership skills and talent are
qualities that are very positive for the Club” said Lyon.

Gardiner, also a former Geelong player is a leading forward who Lyon believes will be a strong
and solid contributor to the Saints.

We now know the situation with Leigh.

All in all a very successful week for the club.

I guess our banner makers had a big part to play in Schneider and King coming seeing that they have played 98 and 193 games respectively. I have always thought we do a good milestone banner.....

As previously posted;good thing about Schneider trade is he will become your small forward and consistently compliment your potent talls and you can finally get rid of Milne.

Lot of people have suggested that Schneider means Stevie will go, but:

A - His best seasons were when he worked in tandem with Guerra
B - Why would we get rid of a 30 goal a season forward?
C - Unlike a lot of opposition supporters, most Saints supporters don't hate Milne and want to see him go. He frustrates us, but so does St Kilda as a whole

Milney does well. It's just people dont't remember the good things he does, they remember the bad. So instead of thinkin 'oh yeah milney scored 3 goals and had 16 touches, great game'. They think, 'yeah he did alright, but he really should have chipped it to this guy instead of havin a shot from 40 on the boundary and missing'. He goes fine.

I love the kid, be shattered if he's forced out of our best 22.

Amazin pickup by us, hope these guys prove to be great players for us.

A bit more depth will force a harder effort at training and therefore on the field. It all works nicely with Roo's speach that perhaps the club was too friendly with each other to be honest. Well four new players of which three could possibly start, means an influx of new ideas and incentive.

Good news indeed.

Any news on Gardiner signing another year? I could not imagine he would go elsewhere.

Congrats Saints.
I'm going to miss Schneids but I hope he plays as well for you as he did for us!
You sure did get a good deal!
