The official line is that one or two players have to be shipped out because of salary cap pressures.
:eek::rolleyes:
I am sure if they really wanted to keep them and the band of brothers attitude still existed then room could have been made.

IMO roos is a wily operator and is making hard but good decisions.

I only hope our decisions are effective.

As much as I love Leigh Fisher I'd prefer Schneider. That's nothing bad about fisher, he's done tremendously well to get back from his injury and I thought he's been in reasonable form. Schneider adds a bit of ground pressure and danger to complement the same from our big men. Does this put extra pressure on Milne? I would have thought so for sure.

I'm also glad we didn't take Judd and pick 13 for Sam Gilbert, we would have been getting ripped off big time. :D

I received a PM yesterday from someone that I trust which said Schneider is on his way to Moorabbin. No other details were given.

Got no reason to doubt you but the more pessimistic amongst us will wait until the papers are lodged and the club announce that the trade is completed.

From what I read the clubs have come to an arrangement but Adam is in Bali and yet to agree to the move.

dempster = troy schwarz, good disciplined average player, 191 cm slow.
schneider = leigh fisher in the forward line, mid 20s goals, tackling tough, gets about a dozen possessions agame, slow. brett voss/leigh fisher like.

Paul roos is keen to get pace into the sydney swans so willing to trade players that fill a similar role, this probably keeps buchanan and bolton safe for 08.

neither are stars but schneider is a top GOP and dempster and average GOP.

both will compete for first 22 honours, in that band between 18 and 26th best player on our list IMO.

At 23 both have room to improve.

DAMN GLAD WE ARE KEEP LEIGH FISHER who is in our best 15 to 16 players and an autoselection IMO.

i think you need to have a look at some of schneiders form. in his favour he is only 23, but a break down of his stats shows he does go missing badly in big games, and paul roos is probably aware of that.

before saintsational went down I posted his 2006/2007 game stats and while he has cranked 20 plus possession a few times, against most of the top 8 teams he's struggling to regularly get into double figure possessions. probably where Montagna was 2 seasons ago, good but inconsistent.

also roos wants more pace, which is why he is offload his slower players.

IMO he's going to trade for pace, and dempster at 191 cm is light for a KPP given his weight and his possession rate is too ineffective at the moment.

well if paul roos stated aim to get pace into the swans, why is he trading schneider?

as for leigh fisher he is no judd but he's very rarely caught with the ball.

I have to wonder whether you actually watch footy Dan. You try and compare stats between LF and AS where one plays back and one plays fwd, it is absolutely futile. Schneider is not slow at all and half fwd like him is exactly what we have been crying out for. If we get this deal done for either LF or pick#26 it would be a steal. Preferably for 26 though

slow? Dempster is one of the quickest at the club. You shouldn't spout mistruths if you don't know anything about the players

From the swans website.

Played every game in 2006 after being a member of the 2005 premiership side. Although he started his career as a goalsneak, he assumed more midfield responsibility and worked hard around the packs. Can light up a match with his pace and can even be used in defence. Is developing into a key player for the Swans.

Schneider is not slow by any means but he's not capable of playing in the midfield either (yet) which is what Roos said he wants, as also stated salary cap concerns, Also you have O'keefe, Buchanan and schneider that all play the same role in the swans so they can afford to lose one (the less consistant one). If we could get him to be more consistant (or play well when milne is down) he is exactly what we need.

Whilst you've got to respect Leigh Fisher's return from injury, his skills aren't what you'd expect from someone of his height and speed. Whilst he is a fit bugger, we need to inject run and skill. We tried to bring Sweeney on as a goalsneak, but it didn't work. Milney has had it good, with bugger all competition for his spot. Schneider fits the bill.

must be his blistering speed that made him such an important part of your 07 campaign  and his supervaluable 8 possessions a game are high quality:rolleyes:

Roos must be livid he has to get rid of them, especially when they want to stay at sydney.

im glad we are getting them, but Im not expecting them to light the world of fire.

certainly schneider has talent and at 23 has potential to get better.

if you do watch schneider he does go missing in the big games and a quick scan of the stats shows that.

leigh Fisher by comparison plays well against almost all teams (although he seems to get smashed against geelong regularly)

leigh fishers skills aren't good? wtf are watching? he's hardly ever caught, his disposal even under pressure is solid if not very good, he hardly ever turns the ball over from the HBF, can take a mark and is one of our most disciplined spoiling medium/short defenders.

in fact leigh fishers return from injury is what forced brett voss out of the team.

Speed == ball winning ability how? Dempster plays a very defensive role, sometimes to the fans frustration, so he doesn't get a lot of the ball. But he's tall, very athletic and a booming kick and if let off the leash could be very damaging.

given his height and weight and the way he plays, he is very similar to troy schwarz who played with us for several years. and saints know how good a kick troy was when not under pressure.

and yes fans at st kilda were very frustrated with him also.

as for pace, whats the point if you can't get enough of the footy.

Dan Warna - I was at the games, where were you?

One goal 4 behinds, and about 6 kicks I can remember which didn't get off the ground at all, doesn't suggest the skills are there. Ever seen him kick on his left side???

I never said he wasn't a very disciplined and fit player, and would be happy to retain him if nothing else comes up (but it seems something has).

are you talking about leigh fisher?

he usually plays of the backline.

as for whether I am at games or not, yes I do have witness
