Good luck to him - ended up playing 12 games for us, will hardly be remembered as a Freo player, but apparently his experience and leadership aorund the club has been good for a lot of the younger guys this year. Did his 2 years with us, passed the 200 game mark, and of course, he has a premiership medallion from Port. A very successful career by anyone's standards. :thumbsu:

But, on the subject of retirements, my question is actually, who was the last player to retire whilst on Freo's list? There have been delistings and trades, but who was the last to retire? I can't think of anyone since Tony Modra....

The last I remember is Norrish.

I wonder if he'll continue to run around with Subiaco next season. He's playing good footy in the WAFL.

Clive Waterhouse at the end of 2004.

He's still running round in the SANFL for the Maggies. Had a great game against Sturt on Saturday....kicked 7 goals :)

Is Schoey retiring from footy completely or will he still be playing for Subi?

Dunno, he's playing pretty well for Subi, regularly in the best players. They are top of the ladder, and premiership favourites (although they have to get past South Freo first... not likely!!!), so maybe he'll give it in if they win it... but I reckon he could go around for another year at least in the WAFL.

Besides all the "working class, anti-crows / eagles, port club blah, blah" stuff, Cliiiiive will always be the the main thing Port and Freo have in common.

Clive. The man, the legend... ;)

I think Clive wanted to be traded to a adelaide side but they said no.de listed in the end.seems like years since the last retirement.Maybe Kickett I think might be the last one.

Kickett and Norrish in 2002 - they were post-Modra. But no-one since then.

schofield looks like being the only one this year. I hope its a huge occasion for both macca and parker when they decide to go,they deserve it after what they have been through in their careers.

Absolutely - Cookie too. He may have started at Sydney, but he's been with us for a long time now and has known some pretty dark times. I hope they all go out on their own terms, and don't (need to) get pushed...

Its an amazing how those three have kept their places over the years when none of them could kick straight to save themselves.Just shows how hard they must work all the time and when you think that cook and macca looked gone not long ago this year.

Schoey has been a champion footballer with Eagles and Port, and although he only managed a few games with us, it is appropriate we recognise his contribution to football. I'm sure Port Adelaide will join us, as I have noticed before when we have had special moments before (I think it was Kicketts last game, they stayed on the field, and formed a guard of honour, good sportsmanship). Hope he does stay on with Subiaco, as he is still playing very good football there.

Onya schoey!

Wasn’t my all time favourite player but played a part in our premiership success. Provided us with a lot of good games and it is sad to see him go.

Would love to see him bow out on the field, is he any chance?

Well he stated in his presser that he's available and hopeful that he'll be selected at some stage through the finals... but I think he's a fair way down the list and there would have to be a fair few "unavailables" for him to get a game.
