It was a massive call by the umpire not to pay that mark and was a 12 point play.
There was also a goal to the that F&%^*&G little dog Milne when he should have had a free kick against him in the last quater.
No-one can tell me that bad umpiring decisions can not change a result.

did it bounce at all?

we need to kick better to our half forwards.
not all this kicking to feet shit

Not sure it would have changed the result, but that Milne 'holding' was one of the worst. Love how the commentators let it slide and went straight to the hyping of the goal. Sometimes the holding ones are hard because both have a bit of each other, but not that one. The umpires are under instuctions ' to get goals scored!!!', so the play on, although totally BS, was not unexpected.

Lets face it, the last 3 minutes, we could have nailed it with 3 or 4 opportunities.

When the boys do get that next win, after all the pain over the last few weeks, it will be mighty sweet for them and the confidence boost could be double what might have been if we had got over the line in one of the Dogs, Dawks and Aints.

Maybe it will be against the Cats;)

(where are our resident 'glass half empty' posters to bring me back to reality!!)

We shouldve won regardless.

pivotal that as they kicked another to strentch it to 18pts...Mortons should have been paid in opening minute..in all though the umpiring was pretty solid

Payback for the goal gifted to Simmons earlier.

Face it, when it comes to umpiring, if you get the soft ones early you know you'll pay later.

In the first half I thought we were getting screwed on a lot of calls. In the second half it was the complete opposite.

We were lucky to win and I agree the Milne one was obvious (but again I thought he got a couple of soft ones paid against him early).

Truer words have not been spoken. Umpires always look to even things up, which pisses me off.

Feel sorry for Kelv and the boys, we gave it a real shot. Big shout out to Deledio for his courage.

Agree, in the end in 99.9% of games if you take your opportunities when you match or beat your opponent in general play you'll win regardless of umpiring.

We didnt.

We lost.

End of.

Umpiring was fine tonight. Bad decision either way and was pretty even.

We had lots of chances to win tonight and we stuffed it up AND St Kilda had a 2 man bench for basically the whole last quarter.

Deserving has nothing to do with winning! We have to realise that and take these opportunities by the balls.

was watching it...clearly went the required distance, clearly did not touch the ground, shocking decision really, if that went through it could of changed the flow of the game so yes an umpiring decision can win/lose a game

I will wait to watch the replay, but I really thought we were hard done by today by the umps. It's not just about the frees they paid, its about the decisions such as this mark and the NON decisions such as every time Saints should have been penalised for holding the ball/dropping the ball in their forward line.

Look forward to watching the reply.

Well I hope my reply lives up to your lofty standards.

Very true, I watched the first half of the replay and we were definetly hard done by in free's NOT payed, we were harder at the ball, harder at the man and our tackling was supurb, I can't beleive how many Holding the Ball decisions we don't get, so many times tonight as well the umps were out of position with the players back to the umpires, obstructing their view, this was how the Gherig drop to Harvey goal was missed and another of Gherigs dropping the balls in the pocket in the 3rd quarter.

Although there was definetly some evening up of the free kicks in the 3rd quarter, we had 16-5 or something like that at half time, and by the end of the 3rd quarter it was 18-13.

Anger + Alcohol = typos :o

Although I believe someone else on here had a few superb typos too, and its definitely not Fraser Gehrig im talking about. ;)

Anyway, you make some good points. I will wait to watch the game on TV just to confirm my initial feelings on it... but of course if you just look at the free kick count you could come to the conclusion it was the Saints getting on the poor end of some decisions. But watching the game it was where they were paid and what they didn't pay - and what happened after the free wasn't paid (ie: a saints goal). Not sure about a few marks of ours that wasn't paid too, must have been close.

It definately went 15 mtrs, I was sitting right there.

The sad thing is that White didn't get rewarded for such a great effort to run so hard with Dal Santo chasing, forcing him onto the left and then executing to Schulz. Even the Saint players stopped, knowing it was a mark.

That's a constant criticism of the umpires these days - they don't have a feel for the game, they're just robots doing their job.

Sometimes when you've been down for so long, it takes the umpires a long time to give you the respect. I bet if it had of been Harvey passing to Gherig it would have been called a mark.

Could have been worse - we could of had Ray Chamberlain umpiring - he would have totally f&*ked the game.

That was an absolute disgraceful decision, that was a mark every day of the week
And some of the most pathetic umpiring I am ever going to see, don't even now what holding the ball/dropping the ball means.
We got screwed by them big time.

It was a short distance but most are allowed. Everyone thought it was a mark. As commentators said they should increase minimum kick distance to 25 m especially when you see length of some handballs.
