Simple, he is an elite midfielder.

There are no arguments now, another stella performance from our GUN midfielder.

PENDLEBURY = ELITE MIDFIELDER.

His hands are better then anyone else's in league football, and his ability to slow a game down and make the right decision is superb.

No matter what happens with Thomas in the future, we did ok out of that draft, because we picked up exactly what we needed, and elite midfielder.

Add Barham, Swan, McCarthy and Sidebottom to that and the future looks bright.

I still think he needs to be more damaging with his kicks to be 'elite' but he has stepped up since last year, namely through an increased possession rate and winning more clearances.

He's the closest to elite out of anyone we've got. I think his handpassing in close is very clever , but think he could get even better by snatching it cleanly , just still slips through a bit too often.
But he has been our best player so far this year.

I'd agree with that, I made a comment a few weeks ago than his kicking is not nearly as good as most make out. Technically it looks good but for some reason he misses alot of targets. I thought his hands last week and early on tonight were a little sloppy(by his high standards) but as the game went on he found his great touch by hand again. He certainly can find the footy and for a bloke who is not the hardest at it boy he wins alot of clearances. Might even be a Brownlow smokey this year as he wins so much of his footy under the nose of the ump.

if i see a comment of someone saying he isnt hard enough ill headbutt them.

you can see how he thinks sometimes during the play and its amazing to watch. He knows how to hold it up to put his team mates to advantage for that last second handball in congestion. just awesome

35 touches, 13 contested, 6 tackles, 10 clearances. The only thing he didn't do tonight was have a disposal efficiency in the 80-90s (77%), but it was that sort of game in the conditions. STAR.

yep and its the 1st game this year he played more then 70% game time.

He would of had similar numbers if he had more ToG in the other 3 games.

He is our best midfielder!

And Beams?

But Amen to that :D

Beams was very quiet tonight... but 3 goal assists from 3 inside 50s sums up his quality.

On another note... Barham... 9 clangers! I think he looks very promising but that disposal is cringeworthy. Hope he can work on it. :thumbsu:

I think he's been trained out of his attacking kicking, in his 1st year he was a lot more damaging by foot.
Since then he has been holding it up and chip kicking and going wide as instructed by game plan.

He is a gun still but could be more damaging i agree.

Not yet sunshine.

Once he can do what he did last night consistently, then he will be considered elite.

I love him, but (and I said this at the start of the season) pick up your set shot kicking, FFS!

There's no reason why such a sublime kick around the ground can't hit the side of a barn when inside 50.

I am not putting Pendles into a star category yet but tonight he was awesome and put his head over the ball few times ,and that it is definitely a step in the right direction towards becoming an elite player .

That contest in the Brisbane forward line was fantastic.

Agree his handpassing in close is very clever and is fantastic.

And that is a good whack of what makes the great players great. "Elite-shmeet" but if he can get the footy, kick goals* & do what you have described on a regular basis, he may well be labelled as a great of not only our club, but the competition. Here's hoping.

* I think he can play mid & kick multiples#.

# We know he can play mid & kick multiples**.

** I'm drunk.

he is soft as butter, i used to think that he didnt going for teh hard ball because they wanted him outside of the pack to distribute but he is soft!

TINMAN! not captain material

dont get me wrong great player, but soft. will be infintely better in a strong mature midfield

Scott Pendlebury is not elite - He lacks too many qualities to be place in that category.

He is still critical to our line-up (however), due to his vision and linking play, but he lacks a lot:

Lacks: Courage, heart, speed, and goes missing when we need him most
Maybe I should just accept his limitations and move on.

HE IS DEFINITLY NOT ELITE!

13 contested possessions, 10 clearances and 6 tackles says you're wrong.

yes he got his 35 possies but there where times on about 4 occasions tonight he couldve put his head over the ball and got it, yet stood and watched.

something he needs to get out of his game.

not elite yet.
