Why is that? Aside from being a very good footballer how can we make that judgement? Because the only evidence we have (ability aside) is his approach to contracts. Like Grundy he marches to the best of his own drum which is fine in an unofficial capacity, but Moore needs to be better in order to be considered an obvious leadership candidate in my eyes.

A good starting point would be to re-sign long term before the season starts for below what he could get on the open market. Stop piss farting with short term deals and lead by the front by committing long term (let’s say 4-5 years at $800k).

I very much agree with the other 4 names depending on which Daicos you were referencing (Nick will be our next generational captain as early as 2025).
Not going to get involved in bickering over whether or not Moore would make a good leader. or Grundy. They are both worthy to be in the leadership group, IMO.

and i meant. josh Daicos. Absolute nonsense to consider Nick.

I’d like to see some next generation leaders in that leadership group. Moore is an obvious one but I’d also consider the likes of Crisp and Maynard. Daicos and Quaynor are probably a bit too young but I’d be hoping all players get considered and the club thinks a bit left field. If probably forgotten some names... it’s the off season!
Crisp is a very good call.
I wish Bianco was a couple years older for inclusion.

But I generally agree, our first round recruiting doughnut has created an emerging leadership doughnut.

I think if you’re including someone in the leadership group then you need to be confident they will have a career that merits that inclusion. Not sure Bianco is there yet.

True that.
He may not be a certainty given his ceiling could be low. Which is a shame as I suspect he has the leadership attributes.

IMO, the crux of a leadership discussion is whether a person is a good leader 🤷‍♂️

I know keeping tabs on youngsters like Nick isn’t your style, but he’ll be special. As an example Walsh would captain Collingwood this year or next if he were one of us and that’s how important Daicos will be at 21.

The discussion is about the 2022 leadership group. A zero gamer is not on the radar.

What discussion are you referring to? You didn’t quote anyone prior to me addressing your post. The only timeline provided was by me in reference to Nick as a potential captain by 2025. The very nature of your posts has been vague and without substance considering you presented Moore with nothing to back it up.

The post I initially responded to and most of the posts directly prior to mine were clearly about 2022, with the poster asking who else was going to join Pendles on the leadership group list… context being that he’d just been reappointed.

Sorry if you couldn’t keep up

Hey TFT’s side account 👍

As shit as it is he’d be our best player and best leader in 2022. Blokes a freak and we should thank our lucky stars we have one as good as him in Daicos.

No.

It’s quite easy to follow context though if you read the thread properly.

Pendles is the best choice as Captain for now IMHO but with an eye to the future and bringing the next Captain(s) along this year. The Club needs some stability within the playing group, the players look up to him.

My money is on Darcy Moore, I think he's the next best and has the added retention value (not that I think he is a risk in any event). I wouldn't be surprised to see more media time and increased exposure this year. That said he will need to stay on the park.

hes a gun player but best leader? are you having a laugh? where did you get this notion that sam walsh is some great leader?

I’m not sure that Bianco has the tool kit to make it as a consistent contributor just yet. He’s not big or quick, and isn’t overly hard at it. He’s a gun decision maker and executor, great footy nous...will be interesting to see his career progress. Fingers crossed he makes it.

Howe by the length of the Flemington straight (in my view anyway); sets a better example. Sidebottom is a good egg but needs to focus on himself. Potentially needs some level of reinvention.

Sidey’s current standard barely warrants inclusion in the side, let alone captaincy. How frickin hard is it going to be to move on from a lackluster Sidebottom if he’s captain? Spare me…

This is correct but I didn't want to sound as savage as you. :) Sidey's drop in standard has been sudden & deep.

My comment was more of a knock on our leadership stocks than a pump up of his (although he’s a Selwood type generational captain in waiting)…

Nothing wrong with our leadership stocks.

Spot on….our leaders are generally top quality… Sideys rather large but one off mistake not withstanding. We lack leaders in the middle age bracket but that’s only because we lack players in that middle aged bracket!!!

His non-fuss four-year contract extension with Carlton today speaks volumes.

You have to question if we have an aspiring leader like Walsh. Maybe Maynard. He's loyal and selfless.
I don't think you can really tell from the outside. But Walsh just seems so exemplary in everything he does. I'd be hard pressed to think of anyone league wide who seems more likely to become a future leader.
