It's interesting both he and Sidebottom arguably started the season slowly; perhaps they too were thinking that we might be lucky to sneak into 8th spot.. but as the season rolled on and more notably the last 6 rounds I felt both went up a gear and then more so in the finals.

Funny, I was thinking about some comments made a few years ago suggesting he was dropping off at a fast rate and wouldn’t be a major player for us in his later years.

Jordy will probably get it, but I think Scott was player of the finals for me.
I had Pendles 5th BOG in the QF, 3rd BOG in the SF, and BOG in the prelim in the Didaka voting. I had De goey BOG for the first two, but probably in the bottom handful for the prelim (clearly injured). I'd give Pendles the nod, personally.

Pendles, Moore, Crisp and De Goey were my 4 chief standouts.

He’s always prepared himself with the utmost professionalism. I have no qualms with the idea he could get a few more years out of himself. I’m more worried about life post-Pendles.

I will probably definitely cry

Collingwood veteran Scott Pendlebury is dipping his toe into the coaching world with a prestigious Melbourne private school.
In a star-studded coaching panel, Pendlebury will next year be the midfield coach working under Essendon great Matthew Lloyd, who is the senior coach at Haileybury College.

Former Melbourne captain Nathan Jones is also a part of the junior development football program.

Pendlebury has indicated he wants to get into the AFL coaching scene when he retires and was advised to have a taste for it at a lower level while he is still playing.

I reckon Pendles will want to go to another club as an assistant firstly. Im pretty sure he’s even said it previously.

He plans on developing his coaching at multiple different afl clubs. Unlike bucks

If McRae ends up being a successful coach, Pendles may never actually get to coach Collingwood.
Everyone has a used by date , even if McRae is successful in winning a flag or 2 , which I believe will happen , his time will expire , let’s enjoy the ride whilst he is with us. the great Leigh Matthews was promised the gig for life after winning the flag in 1990. Couple of seasons later , we gave him his gold watch and thanked him for his services.

And then lost 2 granny’s to him which suggests we might have stuffed up there. 😂

The fix was in, just a matter of who was going to be runner up.

Of course us being the experts in that field, naturally it fell to us.
