I got the impression the club is not discussing an extension at this stage.

(1) I can’t imagine that the club would be having contract discussions with any of our 30+ players until after we’ve qualified.

(2) List management seem to handle contracts in order of priority. As important as Pendles is, he’s not the highest priority.

i have no idea what Clayton is seeing that Pendles is declining at some dramatic pace he's far from Buddy levels of cooked and is still one of our best every week at 37

It is only little things but he is getting caught with the ball more often and missing more targets with hand and foot. Also go back at the attempted tackle he didn't make last week that resulted in Ginnivan's 3rd goal. He waltzed with the player.

I am not saying he is done yet, but not sure he should go again at this stage. I think how he goes during finals will be very informative.

The club might opt to continue with only 2 out Howe, Steele, & Pendles.

I wouldn't rush that decision. Arguably, Howe and Steele are even more important than the great man.

Pretty sure with that attempted tackle last week that he thought the hawthorn player disposed of the ball, so he also let go of the tackle. At least that's how I saw it.
