IMO, this guy will be no good, i hope he proves me wrong, collingwood picked him up because of his athletic/basketballing background, thats all good if it was the NBL, why do Collingwood draft so bad, e need Greg Miller or sumone like that to steady our draft/trading negotiations, cos they are just ********.

Send him down to Windy Hill then.
He has brilliant foot skills and that is exactly what Collingwood need. He's athletic and he can mark and kick a footy. Not sure where you can go wrong there.

Umm no, we drafted him because he can play football. His basketball background is mentioned because he didn't play football for 4 years because of it. He was rated in the top 15 players by most clubs and that 15 were all close together in ability. You could argue that because he has missed so much football he has more improvement left in him than most of the others and thats more than likely what the club was thinking when we picked him. Richo has him now and he's done a very good job with the Bulldog players.

IMO he will be alright.

But not as a midfielder.
He is bottom aged and already 190cm. By the time he is right to play he will be 19-20 yrs old and 193-4 cm.

They same happend to us when we F/S Jobe Watson. I'm not saying they are similar players, but we drafted Jobe as a tall midfielder and then he grew to 194cm. That is why he is taking so long to develope, because our coaches have to teach him how to play key position. His results for Bendigo late last year were encouraging and he should come through to the seniors in the next year or two.

I feel Pendelbury will be the same, slo to develope but shoud come through.

No, Pendlebury was drafted to be a midfielder, there is not one part of his game that says key position. Jobe Watson is just to slow to play midfield and grooming him for a key position is probably his last chance.

Yes he was, as was Jobe. Jobe was of similar height when drafted. This is my prediction, like it or lump it.

You do not need Greg Miller. He is severely overated, I dont know how people think he is some gun. Greg Miller himself thinks he is a gun but I dont know how everyone else got conned. What has Miller actually achieved that has made him so highly regarded?

We're not talking about height though, we're talking about pace.

Pendlebury has the pace to make it as an AFL midfielder - Jobe Watson does not.

Hence, even if Pendlebury does grow to 193cm or so, he'll still be able to play midfield ala Pav or Kouta, whereas if Watson hadn't have grown, he would have been too slow for midfield and too short for KP.

For what it's worth, Watson has smashed his previous 20m sprint and agility testing times. Funny what dropping a few kg's and not being injured will do.

His pace if fine.

I don't mind miller, but I too wonder why he's got this guru reputation that he does.

There are lots of clubs who have had good recruiters that don't get attention. Doggies have done well recenty, Port Adelaide were known for being a very good judge of cattle, but always miller's name being brought up.

the guy hasn't even played a game yet and you are ready to lynch him.. fair go, get off the recruiters and players backs. Let's just see what happens before we go getting a mob together. Worse than the KKK, some of you blokes!

Pendlebury is a risk. Whilst not a game-breaker he is the type that will play 200 games for the Pies, quietly, being always amongst the first selected. He'll do the job ... but there's the IF ...... he has a great upside but this could be all he shows right now.

The Pies took a risk and I hope for his sake it pays. He's a good kid, a good footballer, and he can go from here.

Didn't he pull of the Carey/Longmire coup all those years ago?

Last I heard he couldn't make the fax in time.

The reason why everyone knows about him is because he is the only man with a bigger ego in footy behind Eddie Macguire.
