Arrived at the game pretty relaxed for a change, was bloody freezing when i got there and it didnt change throughout the night. Sat in the northen stand and was suprised by how many roos supporters were there tonight. The first thing i noticed was the pathetic turn out by port supporters, 17,000 was way off the mark, was closer to 10,000. The first quarter i thought we controlled most of the play and should of been infront at the first break, gibsons first quarter was quality.
2nd quarter was always going to be a slog as the ran started to fall, we did well to hold on to only be down by a few kicks at half time. At half time it absoulutley bucketed down.
The third i thought we started very well, Josh smith was supurb and worked very hard, i think someone needs to tell Josh that he belongs at this level as sometimes he looks abit hesitant whether or not to go for the ball or wait back. WORTH PERSISTING WITH!
The last quarter was vintage north, we had the numbers, chased harder, and got free through the coridor which killed port. Gibbo was huge in the last quarter and played the link man role supurbley. Was stoked when the siren went and was celebrating when a coke bottle was thrown at me, i turned around laughed and continued celebrating. Out of respect (and the fact they did the same for arch) i cheered the two retiring players for port off the ground.
Was very hard to see who played well but a few things i noted were....
S Thompson needs to play on a tall, Ebert Killed him
Grima doesnt panic, mr cool calm and collected
Cruize burns the ball
Obst was average until the game was in the balance and he really stepped up
Firrito is the bigger body midfielder we need, stood up in tackles all night
Hmac and Goldy both will improve and be a lethal ruck combo
LT plus Campbell may not work
A fit wells, smith, ziebell, a firing urquart will add class to a team who is already hardnosed
The kicking was bad, but port was worse and it was soaking wet
