With Melbourne .vs. Adelaide on Friday night I was just curious as to whether or not you Melbourne supporters will be keeping an eye on Thompson, hoping he plays well, as he is an ex-player of yours or keeping an eye on him and doing the exact opposite!?

Like all ex-players who decide to leave, I hope he plays ****.
No offense to the guy, he is a good player, but he's now the enemy.
Completely over him leaving though as we got Moloney.

I hope that same sentiments are attributed to Jeff White who acted like a “sook” and demanded to come back to Melbourne from Perth, not that i think he is a 'sook' just using the words to make refference to the quote.

It is a fact of life AFL players can demand to be traded top a state of birth these days, that does not make them a sook, Kane Johnson is not a sook, Nick Stevens is not a sook (a Carlton and Port ******** wad) but not a ‘sook’

Why is he a sook??
Cause he wanted to go home, should've stayed in the sh1thole in the first place...he wasted 4 years of our time.

It happens to all clubs buddy, that is just the way it is.
We've lost Kane Johnson and Tyson Steinglein over the last 4 years.....
do you see our supporters calling them sooks???

The only sook around here is you......... cause you need to get over it and I know a few Demon supporters who think you got the better end of the deal.......

I wouldn't have thought Melbourne supporters would be too concerned with Thompson leaving (you took that guy who used to play forward for us left the ship when it was well and truely sinking ! bugger can't remeber his name !!)

I'm not sure if I have to thank you guys for training the guy so well - is is as hard as nails something we have been missing since bickley and johnson left.

but surely you would be happy with no.12 and Moloney !!

Thommo is not a sook. He went home for the right reasons, but chose not to publically air them. And I agree that if you think Thommo is a sook but not Whitey than its just hypocritical.

I wish him all the best for his career, I just hope he doesn't have a great game on Friday. Would love to see him and Beamer line up against each other.

Mate if you had to move interstate for your work while you were only 18 years old and a few years later you were offered a better deal which included coming home would you be loyal to the company or would you take it?

I too am ********ed off when players we put a lot of development into leave (Stinger, Johnson) but you have to acknowledge that they all served the club to the best of their ability while there. For every SA recruit you have that wants to come home (Fingers crossed Rivers :p ) there will be many more in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide who want to head back to Victoria!.

I'd like to see Thommo play well generally but obviously not against us.

Bitterness poisons the soul.

Shame he left though, with him and Moloney we would have been nye on unstoppable in the next three years.

Not much point grizzling about Thommo. He had a valid reason to leave and good luck to him. We picked up a better replacement in Moloney.
That is a very debatable opinion at very early stages of their careers..........
Maybe in a few years we will be able to determine which club got the better end of the deal.

I can tell you one thing though that Adelaide are very happy with Thompson, has been dubbed a future captain, by a lot of the Adelaide supporters on these boards. I know that Melbourne are happy with Moloney. West Coast would have to be happy with Steinglein and Geelong are happy with Ottens. If you look at last years trading period for these 4 clubs, you could say that these 4 clubs did very well.

well, i think he is a massively valuable player who i wish was still wearing #6, but then again we have a decent #22 again.

But i can confirm that i will boo perhaps once.

I wouldn't be so sure about that Gets!

I wish we still had him, not at the expense of Moloney though (could have traded pick 13 for Moloney maybe). Both of them in the same team would be awesome.

I'm happy for him to do well for Adelaide, just not against us.

And as long as he didn't leave for money, I'm ok (although not happy) with him leaving.
