Well the boys are off to Adelaide this weekend to take on the Crows at AAMI. What sort of side do you guys think we will put out on the park?
I will be there with bells on, well as logn as i can get some time off work.

Agree. I reckon they'll go pretty close to full strength. Not sure whether they'll risk Farmer though. He's a very unpopular figure after the (was it) Doughty (or Mattner??) accident from 2004.

If it's a dress rehearsal for Round 1, then maybe Farmer and Johnno will be missing; if it's to give the best available a run to trial things for how it will look later in the year, then you might see them there...

Maybe Des, MCarr, Walker and Browne might get a rest - they've each played all prac matches so far...

We do know that all the "stars" that rested last week will play, and you'll be the first of us here to see Pav and Taz get a run together. :thumbsu:

I expect our line up to be-
Hayden McPharlin Parker
Grover Dodd Mundy
Peake Bell Walker
Solomon Pavlich Headland(may be rested for Mourish)
Tarrant Murphy Browne(may be rested for Macca)
Ruck- Sandilands J Carr Crowley
Int- Haddrill Duffield Black Hasleby Longmuir Webster

Cook sprained an ankle at training and might not be ready for round one. Connolly said that he expects him to play early in the season though. :thumbsu:

Hopefully Tarrant and Murphy get some goals to boost their confidence.

Fair enough, Webster out Campbell in. Didn't name him since he came off injured on Saturday night, but IIRC he returned to the field so he should be fine.

Out of curiosity IP, which 3 of the 24 I've named would you drop for round one (I haven't selected Matt Carr for this weeks scratchie). It's bloody tough!

Dom - I'm a girl. I love all the boys - I can't play favourites... ;)

Seriously.. I really don't know. I regularly go to the DL magnetic board, get down to the last 2 or 3 spots, then give up cos I can't choose who to leave out.... :o

Great situation to be in!! :D

Actually - the only one I would definitely leave out at this stage is Haddrill - needs a couple more weeks to work out the rustiness IMO. This week, plus 2-3 in the WAFL and I reckon he'll come under close consideration...

Haddrill probably won't play round one, and I think Treadmill will miss the game so he won't really be needed. It would be tempting to play him round two against a tall bombers line up though.

Either Walker or Duffield will probably be very unlucky. Both have been fantastic so far in the preseason, Walker's experience may get him over the line.

Is it 4 or 6 on the bench? They're certiainly giving the fringe guys the chance to prove themselves.

Will this game be on telly or the radio?

Interesting how Andrew Browne has progressed from fringe player, to a player we expect to play. Good on him. I'm sure it has been difficult, and that he would have had to do everything possible to get himself into that situation.

Six on the bench, so four to drop from the list named. Ibbo will almost certainly miss out.

My guess is that Ibbo, Kiwi, Gilmore and maybe Des will miss out. I only say Des as he has already had 5 games if we include the Indigenous game and the intra-club. He's due for a rest before the season starts.

I would also be telling Matt Carr that he's playing for his round 1 position...

Interesting that there's no Heath Black. He said on the news last night he was expecting to play this weekend... unless he meant for Souths.

With the WAFL starting next weekend, is there a round of scratch matches this week for that comp? Anyone know?

i totally disagree with this. Matt would be one of the first picked.

He is our best midfield stopper.

It is no coincidence when he took over from dodd as the #1 tagger we started to flourish.

fair enough - I guess we all view things a little differently... When I look at MCarr, i see someone who's a little lazy, who hangs back a fair bit, and whose disposal and decision making often put his team-mates under unnecessary pressure. But I guess if his opponent is not getting much of the ball, then he's doing his designated job. :)

I reckon Ibbo will play. Interesting that he has been named ahead of My man Ryley Dunn.

I reckon they will rest Peaker for Ibbo as He has played every game,

Just found this info on the WAFL board for anyone who's interested:

This Weekend's Fixtures

South Fremantle vs Peel Thunder at Fremantle Oval (Friday Night, 6:30pm)

West Perth vs East Fremantle at Arena Joondalup (Saturday, 3:30pm)

East Perth vs Subiaco at Medibank Stadium (Saturday, 3:30pm)

Byes: Perth, Claremont, Swan Districts

There should be a few Dockers appearing for their WAFL sides this weekend.

I would be dissapointed if Ibbo didn't get another run. I was super impressed with him against the Hawks. Just one of those guys (Peake was another) who just looks better at AFL pace than he does at WAFL.

Well Connolly did say they would be full strength this week so Peake etc will play. Black is playing this week and next for South Freo to get some match fitness.

I have the least expectations of all the lead up games for this match. Possibly because there is no way of seeing it. I guess Pav and Tarrant together adds a little interest, and it is an opportunity for the coaching staff to have a look at how that might work. Apart from that, jsut a training run.

I have a way to see it, from the grandstands. :D

I feel the same about MCarr now... though in 2003 he was one of our best. Don't know what changed with him.. or maybe it's just he looks more ordinary now compared to the other players we got or who stood up.. but yeah. It's hard to judge players who seem to play a negative game as such.

Also... I dislike not being able to see our preseason games. I'll give a nod to a 26 game season with no preseason if it means we won't have to endure another media blackout like we are getting here. In the USA all their preseason games for NFL and such are shown.

Matt Carr wouldn't be in the 22 for round one if I was picking the side, but he'll definately play.

Ibbo has shown more than Dunn against AFL opposition already Ripper. :p
