Carlton played Freo in Perth( big home ground advantage)with 5 changes , 3-4 of our best 22 out injured, jamo,walker and Duigan underdone. 25 + degrees and came away with the win. That was a great win for us.

Well said. Bit sick and tired of all the negative bulls*$t from all the so called Freo faithfull after the first five rounds. With the draw we have I am pretty pleased being 3-2 . I saw the fixtures, rolled my eyes and thought " Yipee, 1 - 4 after 5 rounds ". Beat last years premiers, beat Saints in Melbourne and the two games we have lost we have come back from big margins to almost win against two sides predicted to finish top four. At least we are showing a bit of ticker this year . Freo fans support Freo.

Also I don't know how I missed it but somehow the 2008 National Draft has some how transformed into a historically significant moment in our club's history .....well actually not even the whole draft ...Hell is not even all the clubs in the draft it is actually just our 2nd round pick versus Carlton's 3rd round pick.

You know what - I googled 'Suban Footywire stats' and in the search results was 'Suban v Robinson Footywire stats', when an event starts hitting the top ten on a google search - you question how you missed it.

Yep, no doubt the players would agree. We have life before and life after - and with life after there ain't no more easy goatscapes - and no-one for the players to blame except themselves if they don't meet his standards.

Some are adapting to the challenge and flying (Pearce, Tendai, Hill) and others are struggling (Suban, Silver, Kep). Others struggled but have already turned it around a bit (Walters).

This year and next year's drafts will be the key - plus how we adapt to free agency. Not easy, no relying on freakish acts of skill or unaccountable front running footy - but harder working and more professional methinks.

This. Very (pleasantly) surprised we have been so competitive this year so far, especially given Mundy, Barlow, Pav and Sandi have hardly been at their awesome best yet.

If we can get a bit more miles into our stars, and avoid more injuries, we will continue to improve as we become more familiar with Roscoe Pekoe's game plan.

Our fitness is as good as I can ever recall - given how short a time period Ross has been with us it is remarkable how much he has our guys slimmed down and fitter - and our backline discipline is very solid, we just need to improve the forward structure and the forward entries from the midfield and suddenly we will all be saying how wonderful things are.

Simple facts are Freo didn't take their chances and Carlton did when it was their turn. If the game went for another 5 mins, Freo would have won as we were off our feet but no use complaining over what could have been. There are ifs in every game played. How many games could any team say if wee kickked straight we could have won? Quite a few i would say

Both teams had injuries including I think one team was missing Sandilands. Many of Freos best players also still very underdone (Mundy, Barlow) and Fyfe is not 100%. 25 degrees night temperature close to winter is not hot.

It was a good win by Carlton, but Freo had more scoring shots and it could have been a different result. Carlton will need to show something late in the season and in the finals because anything less than a grand final appearance will probably not be acceptable this year.

Hahaha, alright thats a fair call . But I just think that having a go at Ross Lyon 5 rounds in is uncalled for.
I'll be the first to admit that some of my posts have been more negitive as of late, but I'm not alone. I'm obviously frustrated that we loss to Carlton, but at the same time, I think we are playing good footy and am happy with where we are at the moment.

I agree, I think the coaches panicked, and didn't think we were capable of beating the blues playing our own game. In defence of the coaches though, there are too many of our key players that are underdone and not playing to capacity and our main runners are consistently tagged out of the game..
One thing I believe Friday's game showed is that we need to make changes to our playing personnel. Two many players with bad skills and decision making under pressure. has always been and always will be for certain players.
