Well I just got back home to Brisbane after an epic weekend in Melbourne, climaxing with the Season Launch and Hall of Fame Dinner. Epic. First of all I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that contributed to the Varcoe Sponsorship that got me onto the table with Varcoe and Djerrkura. Both the guys were great, really nice guys.

Now I should put a disclaimer on this post. I was drinking a lot. Quite a bit actually.

The night started off with everyone mingling outside that Palladium room at the Crown. Now being down there by myself wasn’t really ideal but it worked out, I smashed down a few frothies and mustered the courage to go introduce myself to the players that were milling about in a group. All the guys were great. Real friendly and happy to have a chat. Although it was a bit awkward for some of them I think, the younger guys that hadn’t been involved before. Jeremy Laidler is a pretty funny guy.

Anyway, we get onto the table and I got Varcoe sitting on my right and ol’ mate Stevo (the other winner of the ticket) to my left. Stevo is a bloody legend. The night goes on from there but there’s no point in me subjecting you guys to my ramblings. A few things;

Seeing the new recruits on stage, very awkward for them but Brownless was pretty good with lightening the mood

Seeing the new inductees into the Hall of Fame. Moons, Enright, Chappy & Wojak. I think they all really enjoyed it.

With regards to bomber’s chat that was in the paper today. It was kind of awkward. Actually it was very awkward. I remember thinking to myself at the time ‘Oh shit’ did he actually just say that.

The steak was good. A bit small though. I probably could have had about 2 more. And I think Nathan would have hit up hungry jacks on the way home.

Selwood was on Costa’s table. He isn’t going anywhere.

All in all it was a bloody great night. I had fun anyway.

Thanks again to the other sponsors and especially HamG (I think it was you that passed on the ticket).

Bring on 2010

Subject away, mate! I love hearing drunken ramblings, and often participate in episodes of public drunkeness (or is that drunkardness?) myself. Just don't implicate any players or you'll have the likes of Hutchy and Caro digging around in the GFC rubbish bins!:p

Do you reallise how much I stressed about you getting the ticket. I posted it thursday...you left Bris Vegas Saturday......there was so much there that could have gone wrong. I am glad you both had a good time.

I went to the launch, unfortunately not in the position of a player sponsor this year :(....

I have to say that, as I have been to the last 3, this was the best out of them; it felt a tad more informal (even though the players/ officials were suited up), as they constantly were readily available for chats, etc.

The thing that got me was the signing of memorabilia that people brought in, as club policy states that no memorabilia is to be signed on/at functions.....anyways.....

It was really good to chat to a lot of the boys, one of my mates who I used to work with is good with a few of the boys, so I got to have a good chat to Tommy Hawkins and the Varcoe brothers (who were playing the pokies after the function ended :D)....

Just talking to the likes of Billy Brownless, Hutchy, Mark Thompson, etc. was a real highlight as well....

Nothing stood out really, Pods was a real good bloke to chat to, and I was able to pull Daniel Menzell away for a bit after the function with my mate and asked how he was doing, etc., it was a bummer he didnt want to play roulette with us afterwards, but hey :D..

The main thing I took out of the night from a club perspective was what I think is a shift in focus a little bit, as they constantly stated that they want to challenge for a premiership, basically be there abouts, and they think that they can do that for the next 4-5 years, which I think is a great sign for the club.

Got my great bucketload of photos this year, so overall am happy :thumbsu:
