Im absolutely shattered. We've thrown everything we can last 2 weeks and still fell short. I feel a belting coming on next week in perth. The dees morale must be shot.

Just gotta keep trying, if we put in against West Coast and then regain a few key players, we can eventually chalk up some wins soon.

R9 - Kangaroos (MCG)
R10 - Adelaide (MCG)
R11 - Collingwood (MCG)
R12 - Richmond (MCG)
R13 - Essendon (TD)
R14 - Carlton - (MCG)

The season has been over for a few weeks now for me.

Shattered that we couldn't get over the line today, crapped off that the umpires don't seem to keep consistent.

to show faith .. ive put 100 bucks on sportsbet for the dees to still sneak into the 8

we'll bounce back! :thumbsu:

NO way.
Make a smart investment and chuck five bucks on the dees for the flag!!
$501 for $1

0-7 start just adds to the kitty
FLAGS in the bag :thumbsu:

:D

The boys were absolutely shattered after the game yesterday. I have a feeling that next week could be the equivalent of when Terry Wallace said he was sick of 'honorable defeats' only to cop the mother of all beatings the week after.

Westcoast may be a stretch but you're not far off. With a bit of luck you could have registered your first win yesterday. I know I thought we were gone when Sylvia kicked your last goal.

Whilst on Sylvia, I know he's copped a bagging in the past but I thought he was great yesterday. Kicks like a mule and takes a great mark...just not as silky as some of the comparable draft picks.

Davey was also outstanding...far and away BOG. Made some of our blokes look flatfooted.

Finally, I note that some on this board have criticised Dunn. I saw another side to him yesterday when he played through the midfield. He is desceptively quick, in one passage of play he more than held his own with Griffen when they were racing each other for the ball...and Griffen is pretty quick. Could be a handy match-up for the likes of Goodes and other big midfielders.

Not only chalk some win, but get some confidence. Remember, we lost 7 in a row at one stage and still can make the final 8.

Furthermore, this week against West Coast is interesting. I think there will be only 2 changes. Something like this?

In: McLean & Rivers Out: Holland Ward

Team:
B: Jones Carroll Warnock
HB: Brown Rivers Bell
C: Bate Bruce Johnstone
HF: Yze Miller Davey
F: Green Neitz Sylvia
Ruck: White Godfrey McDonald
Inter: Mclean Moloney Dunn P Johnson
Emer: Pickett Holland C Johnson

Few reasons for this line up:
1. Prefer Warnock than Holland. Subiaco would suit Warnock more. Warnock is quicker and can play small and tall comparing to Holland.
2. I'll try Jones in defence. This will provide some hardness and run out of the backline especially Subiaco ground. Jones will be suited to play aganist guys like Armstrong etc.
3. Godfrey. I have include him in the team because I think it will be good idea to have him on Judd. The advice here is forget about the footy, just follow Judd all the time without giving him some space. Just to frustrate him. Therefore, we can use Bruce as an attacking role from midfield to FF and kick some bags.
4. Green and Yze around the left FF pocket to kick some bags. Would ideally suit their left foot. Dunn to come in to provide some back up and support to FF from bench.
5. McLean & Moloney to start the bench to provide some fresh legs. Plenty of rotating will be needed for midfielders especially Subiaco ground. If we can combat their speed and run, we're a chance.
6. Would like to include Newton for Miller. However, it's a bit risky especially the game is away. Miller played very well last time at Subiaco. Therefore, give him another crack.
7. P Johnson to back up White and FF (at times) to stretch the Eagle's height in defence.
8. Again, midfielders for example: Johnstone and Bate should support the defence and provide more run.

Sorry but I can't agree with putting Jones in the backline. He is a natural midfielder, an insider player who is very good in the contests and against West Coast we need to be at our best to at least break even in the stoppages.

Regarding Jones, I agree. Wouldn't it be nice to try something different?

Jones is still developing as a player. This week will be his first opportunity to play against the best of the best, Judd & Co. and it is important that he goes head to head with them in the middle. He is tough in the clinches and is the type of player we need in there, especially with McLean still out.

There's a chance Mclean will be back this weekend. Having Brock back will strengthen our midfield and enhance more flexibiliy. Therefore, we can afford to try something different. (That was my comment: That's all)

Many thanks for your comments Demonfan :)

I would be very surprised to see Mclean line up this week. I think they've been aiming for round 9 all along with him. Probably the only ins this week will be Rivers. Anyone heard anything about pickett?

That's a lot of bags :D

I'd prefer Neitz to kick a few myself.

If the players can kick goals accurately, we can be a 20 goals team. Players like Sylvia, Neitz, Miller, Bate, Yze, Bruce, Davey, Dunn, Green are capable of 2+ goals, plus Moloney, Mclean, Johnstone, White, P Johnson with 1. In addition, if Robbo's there, even better.

Regarding Jones. If Jones is in defence and can cause stoppages, it's a good sign for us because:

1. Kill some valuable time and the stop Eagles run (like what Swans did in the past)
2. No space in Eagles FF. To have it crowded means our players have time to run back and support our defenders. And
3. Obviously, not allow Eagles to score quickly which can hurt us.

Mclean on the bench i highly doubt that

unfortunately i think we will win this week if mclean, rivers and robo all come back which they are all possibly chances

godfrey to keep judd to <25 and mcdonald to give kerr more doughnuts

Normally Mclean is in our best 18. However, only for this game, Mclean would be suited to start on the bench due to:

1. His recovery from injury. Trying to ease his foot as much as possible. (Playing him safe). I'm sure we don't want any problems and don't want him to start playing for the Zebras for fitness. And
2. As mentioned: To provide more fresh legs.
