Do you guys have room for Frankie Peckitt in your side? He played a good game the other night, and it would be tough to drop him when (assuming) Hamill comes back. Clearly a bit extra finals experience and poise is what you need. Interestingly enough Peter Riccardi got more game time for the Cats than he's had all year, for the same reason , experience.

If its not Peckitt, who do you drop? A lighter body like Clarke or Goddard? Or Guerra who is tough but maybe surplus to requirements while Milne's firing?

Also, what to do with Kozi? He still seems a little lost at times and Blake, who has 1/10th the ability, is outshining him. Where do you play him - do you give him a lot of benchtime?

Kozi...
according to the media gossip, he has a persistent foot injury.
Maybe plantar fascia (I think), it sounds like something under the arch...
but I don't agree with Blake showing him up.
Maybe Kosi spends a lot of time on the bench, but if so, then it must be for his injury management. When he does come on, he is a classy one-touch player. He oozes class. He wears the No 23 jumper with pride and honour.

I don't doubt that, but finals are the big time.Injury or no injury, where do you play him this week, how do you utilise him best.

The players are selected in order to match up well against the opposition.

Peckett has made an immediate impact upon coming back into the team. He may not be as talented as our younger brigade but he has a role to play as was shown on Friday against the Swans.

Koschitzke is a genuine star. He creates mismatches when played forward (and is a crack shot for goal). He isn't ready to play ruck yet (after his recent elbow injury) but can still make the contest around the ground to assist the full time rucks. He made his name playing at CHB - where he won the rising star award and definitely can play a role here. He is a natural inclusion - even with the dodgy foot.

Clarke and Guerra have to perform better to justify their inclusions. You would think that Guerra might be fired up to perform against his old club.
He might retain his spot. Clarke made a few basic mistakes on Friday but also did some useful things - though his stats aren't anything to write home about. He might be under pressure. We still have a few aces up our sleeves too, and I'm thinking there might be a surprise inclusion against Power.

Pretty much agree with all of that.

If Hamill and Black are fit they'll come straight back into the side. Frankie more than justified his inclusion in the team on friday night. Even though Guerra is playing against his old side and may cause the opposition to lose their focus a little, I really think he has to be one of the players to make way. As for the other player to be dropped, X might be the one. I'm convinced he'll be a very good player but on his performance over the course of the year and in recent weeks he would be least deserving player to hold his place in the team. Goddard wasn't given a lot of game time so may be a little vulnerable. By including Frankie on Friday and Murray the previous week the selection committee have shown that they aren't afraid to choose a player from left field and of those you'd reckon Sam Fisher, Ferguson and Gram could be the ones to come into calculations.

I think you are a little harsh on Kosi hotpie. His performance in his return from an 8 week injury against Jonathon Brown was outstanding. The next week he went forward and kicked 3 goals. He isn't 100% fit but his versatilitiy is a big asset. Whether or not he makes a big contribution, you know that it's going to force a very good opposition player to watch him.

Not being harsh, his form/fitness in both finals has been ordinary, and I was wondering how he should be best utlised this week. Thats all.

I thought Kosi turned the game when he was thrown into the ruck against Sydney. I think he will be used as a Key forward and have a few stints in the ruck. He definately must play.

Clarke + Goddard out
Hamill + Black in

Sorry boys.

I'm not sure Hamill will be ready, if there is any doubt I would rather play a fully fit player. I know this may be harsh because Hamill is inspirational, but he is still a week shy of the minimum recovery time and will not be 95% fit - he may not even be 75%.

Black would be an automatic inclusion now that he has recovered from his ear infection.

Clarke and Goddard must be under some pressure, but I think Goodard has to be included - just give him more game time and he'll work his way into the game.

As Sainter pointed out we still have some great players who haven't been included for one reason or another Sam Fisher, Ferguson and Gram come to mind immediately and even one or two more "unlikely inclusions" might be considered.

How was Forrest Gump then?

Fairly obvious you aren't taking an interest in this years finals series, or even watching any of the review shows such as On The Couch, where Kosis performance was reviewed as being game turning. He managed a fair highlights package on Friday whilst not dominating all day for a 197cm KPP in the wet. Easily the best of the 6 alleged ruckmen on the ground.

As for selection Black is a certainty, Hamill not likely, Gram an outside chance.

Guerra the most likely to go, then Xavier if dry, Goddard if wet. Peckett has to play.

I thought I was watching Forrest Gump, but somebody told me it was actually Adam Goodes I was watching!!

(FWIW I didn't think Kozi was that great the other night, but I'll admit defeat on that one and agree I probably got it wrong).

A little bit of obvious advice.

Never play injured players in finals, they cannot be hidden, or carried in the big games

Good luck Saint guys, but not enough to win, okay..... :D
