Sellar in 09

Agreed Sellar will see game time this year and McKernan wont, I am not sure how anyone could have McKernan above Sellar at this stage. Maybe in a couple of years, but at the moment Sellar would clearly have to be in front with his age, experience and entering into his 3 year on an AFL list etc.

I think it's more that people are thinking that Sellar has fallen behind after the last few years, whereas McKernan is owed some oppurtunity.

At this moment, however, Sellar is definitely in front.

he looked pretty promising this time round last year, lets not forget the boy does have some ability.

Exactly right.

Since then, he's played a year at the Bays, got another pre season under his belt, and with some extra focus he will have hopefully progressed further towards being an AFL player.

Hopefully.

Sellarstardom, I know Sellar is a lead-up CHF, but there is no room for four talls in our forward line. Lets not forget Goodwin (will spend 80% of time up fwd IMO) is more of a leading/marking forward than a crumber.

At the moment, I would rate our nine KF's like this:

1. Walker
2. Tippett
3. Gill
4. Hentschel
5. McKernan
6. Sellar
7. Davis
8. Young
9. Lee
...with Stevens slipping in at no.2 if you call him a FWD.

I'd like to see a round one team of:

Goodwin-Walker-Tippett
Vince-Stevens-Edwards
Reilly-Porplyzia-Knights
Doughty-Bock-McLeod
Johncock-Rutten-Moran
Maric-van Berlo-Thompson

Douglas-Shirley-Dangerfield-Mackay

Second ruck would be a combination of Tippett and Moran, while Stevens and Moran can be swapped for matchup reasons.

Sellar has to jump a fair few people to get a game up forward this year but I hope he can.

As much as I like most of your team there is no way I would let Stevens play CHF he is an all over the ground fill in player at best I would play Gill and even Moran before stevens in a key position anywere.

Neither Walker or Tippett will play CHF and Gill is best playing the CHF come wing position rather than shooting on goal. His mobility is akin to Burton and he will have plenty of defenders struggling to keep up with him.

I would not want to see Stevens play CHF as he is a fill in at that position, not a permanent, he simply adds versatility.

I agree with the comments that we have 5 true forwards these days. So in essence I can see Walker and Tippett up forward, Gill on a flank and then a Goodwin, Vince, Porp or Douglas filling the other 2 spots, probably rotating.

My concern is that I can't see Walker and Tippett both firing throughout the entire season due to their youth, aka Tippett last season. Hence put Sellar at CHF with Gill and play Gill more around the wing and Sellar starting off about 30 metres out.

Davis, McKernan you can forget about. Henschtel is a question, but again he doesn't play CHF and in fact probably is competing with Tippett who I see possibly getting squeezed out at this stage unless he fires.

riiight.... i've read this 3 times and i'm still struggling to make any sense out of it.

to solve the theory of "too much youth", u want to play a lumbering 20yr old who has shown nothing, at CHF?

gill is reasonable value but hes very inconsistent and is an extremely unreliable set shot for goal.

tippett has had near a full season in the AFL last yr which will (hopefully) hold him in good stead for a slightly more consistent yr in 2009. walker showed a lot for norwood last yr, including a large bag of tricks. - reliable shot at goal from 0-55m, can kick goals on the run, can lead, can take contested marks and importanly can perform in big games. he deserves a good run this season at the highest level.

IMO Sellar will find it very difficult to make our best 22, to be brutally honest he would need to jump at least two players in the pecking order (Walker, Tippett, Gill or Hentchel) as I can't see the crows playing 4 talls up forward.

Even though Craigy praised Sellar's training form, Craigy also did mention that he would like to see Sellar inflict more presence on the ground and for me this is the key issue, he is a big lump of a lad and he needs to stamp his presence on the ground and on a game of footy

needs to find some mongrel, I reckon he will be playing the game on Feb 7 so I reckon we wil be able to tell where he is at then.

that "pecking order" is very debateable.
