Geelong's numerous wins through close finishes by a goal or a few points, many cases in the dying minutes of a game, have masked where they are truly at as a list. Only really been held together by an ageing backline and too Hawkins focussed in the forward line (bit like us with Trav). Haven't got a lot of youngsters coming through to replace their core group that's up in 30s age bracket so would expect to see the slide down ladder over the course of the coming 2 - 3 years.

Does anyone know why Anthony rocca and McRae were at the game last night watching the roos game? Tv panned over to longmire and they were sitting in front of him.

Yeah I saw that too, good hint that Rocca isn't going anywhere, and if anything may be promoted into a bigger role given Lappin's exit.
As for why they were there, no idea, guess like most eliminated teams they just want to see the best in action live, probably don't get much chance to during the home and away rounds.

Although Geelong have caused us some headaches and heart ache in the last 8 years or so, I still wanted them to win. I still don't rate North Melbourne. They nearly proved me right again last night by choking and giving up a 32 point lead with 10 minutes to go. Any who, they won, but I'm still on the Power bandwagon!

Credit where its due, Hawkins played an amazing last quarter.
I wonder if the media will go to town on the Cats and their aging stars?
None of them stood up last night.
Bartel was woeful, same as Lonergan and Kelly. Enright didn't do too much either.
Also wonder if they will be able to use the " But our ruckman is still learning the game" excuse?
They will be going into freefall very quickly when their aging players retire or are retired.

Add mackie to that and the majority of their kids.
I was more refering to their older players, but yeah, He had a shocker also. As well as Varcoe.

Well it's no secret he was a whipping boy for the fans at Carlton and Collingwood, and the first three things I saw him do since he last wore an AFL clubs guernsey was a) handball straight to opposition, b) drop an uncontested mark and c) have an absolutely woeful attempt at goal. So, that's what was so funny.

He was an ordinary player for us.
But he was by all accounts a nice guy, wish him the best and if he's playing vfl it's because he loves the game regardless so good luck to him.

I'm not doubting his character, you asked me what was so funny and I was simply telling you the fact that I haven't seen a thing from the guy since he played his last game for us, and I thought it was funny that he was just emphasising why we moved him on.
