I'm not entirely sure how to set up the Wireless net to the PS3 as I have only had the Ethernet connection.

But there should be instructions with your PS3 for one.

You will need to actually plug your PS3 in, in order to set it up though.:D

Pretty sure it can be done by going into settings, Network Settings and then selecting the Wireless Connection and let it automatically set up.

Someone with an actual Wireless Connection (COTCHIN 9:mad:) might choose to help eventually. But that's all I can offer for you.

Yeah I got wireless on my PS3.
It's like a laptop, you let your PS3 to seek out the available connections and connect to your wireless internet.

There should be tutorials on YouTube or on the PS3 community website that should be able to help you.

I got one today and can't figure out how to set up wireless, won't let me for some reason :@

for me it works up until i run the connection test, then it comes up with an error saying it timed out or something and the IP adress says fail.
Stopped for a while, im going to try a few things tomorow or ring the tech support guys. I think its something to do with my router.

Ahh pretty much the same problem, but I just googled something like 'wireless connection problems with ps3' and it helped me

i remember my mate had that same problem when he got his over a year and a half ago regarding the timed out error.

he ended up just buying a 20? metre ethernet cable which imo is the way to go anyway.

wired connections performance is just to good to pass up.
if you have no choice then i suggest googling the problem.

when i got wireless at home..i set up my ps3..
by just scanning for the connection..works perfectly
(thus allowing me to save on buying dvds and streaming all my downloads onto my bigscreen)

If anyone's getting dns errors, apparently putting your ps3 in the DMZ in your router settings is meant to help. It seems to have helped me, but I got a new router around the same time I set it up, so can't say for sure. Can't really say how to set it up sorry - I don't know much about networking, and struggled setting it up myself.

BTW, if looking for a good program to stream movies/music from your PC, try PS3 Media Server - works with heaps of video formats, although dependant on your PC, connection and video size you may get stuttering. Even converts FLV files and DVD ISO (or just the DVD files - Video_ts folder etc) files on the fly, if I remember right. Better than TVersity in my opinion.

it's FAR better than tversity tima i agree

it's what i use as well

the stuttering only ever happened on full 1080p blu ray files around the 9 gig mark.....but as i'm sure you know in the transcoding settings under MEncoder there's a box you can check to take advantage of dual core+ processors which eliminates the stuttering

the box to click is with bolded writing saying

"Enhanced multicore support for H264 HD content"

click that and the stuttering should go :thumbsu:

oh yeh....and after it's checked remember to save settings!

(i'm sure you already know this tima but this is for others out there who want to do it as well)

Put a blueray dvd on and must say the quality was avg. Just looked like a normal dvd lol. But once i put metal gear solid in the game just looked beutiful and the graphics simply amazing. Could i have to change my tv setting when im watching movies?
are you using hdmi cable?
or rca (rca is a cable that is red/white/yellow)
if so, thats probably why its average.

Also do you have a full HD 1080p (not 1080i or 720p) TV?

If you have a wireless router you shouldnt have any problems, it doesnt work with 3g wireless you need either adsl 2 or a cable connection through a router. The PS3 should automatically pick up the signal and you just enter in the password for the connection.

Also make sure that you are running wireless G and not solely an N connection because the PS3 only supporters wireless G.

I have had no problems setting up my iphone, PSP, DS, Wii, PS3 and 360. Just make sure that the signal from your router is strong enough as well. I had to buy a more powerful 5 db gain antenna to get it to work the one that came with the router only seemed to have a 20 foot radius.

I think in my case the signal from the router is the problem. I also have trouble in that region of the house sometimes getting the laptop to work wirelessly.

How much do these '5db gain antennas' cost, relapse?
