But we want more. :madv1: :madv1: :madv1:
Well, on that, I’m still big on having a carnival-type weekend where we play multiple games in a weekend. Will help shorten the season a bit and adds a bit of fun to one particular weekend each season. Call it something absolutely wild like Gather Round, or Magic Round, or maybe something original ;).

Congratulations to okeydoke7 (1,000) and Itsmyshow (800) for their respective goal milestones being reached in Round 02.

SU2glHY.png

After a long build-up, okeydoke7 finally delivered his 1,000th goal... and a few extra to go with it. He now joins Tarkyn_24 as the only players to have kicked 1,000 Career Goals in Sweet Football Association history. A remarkable achievement and one to be proud of!

Here are some numbers about the great okeydoke7.
  • okeydoke7 holds the record for most goals against the following opposition clubs:
    • Mount Buller Demons (92)
    • Fighting Furies (85 w/ Tarkyn_24)
    • Gumbies FFC (103 w/ Tarkyn_24)
    • East Side Hawks (81)
    • Las Vegas Bears (78)
    • Roys FFC (106)
    • Dragons FFC (103)
  • okeydoke7 has kicked goals against 14 different opposition clubs
  • On 69 (nice) occasions okeydoke7 has kicked 5+ Goals, second only to Tarkyn_24 (68).
  • 6 players have kicked 10+ goals twice, of which okeydoke7 is one. Mooch has done this 4 times.
  • okeydoke7 has been the leader of the Fred Medal (which he won in Season 11!) for a total of 45 Rounds, the most of any player.
  • 965 Goals have come for okeydoke7 in Home & Away fixtures, the most of any player.
Here is how the current standings look and it begs the question, who is next? Will it be The Filth Wizard or Itsmyshow?! Or will Mooch find a way to surge beyond both?

FINALLY congrats okeydoke7 on your fantastic milestone, what a hard slog the last few weeks but you finally made it!
And Itsmyshow you star, congrats! 🫶

What impresses me most is that the Swamprats were the first team to tolerate him long enough for him to post two consecutive centurion milestones with them! Commiserations Swampies 😂

This is awesome.

Thanks Hate. A few things to add to my CV there.

Fixture has been updated, the only match of Round 15 will be Ophidian Old Boys vs West Coast Wonders which will be played on the Saturday.

Round 16 matches will occur on the Sunday.

R15 and R16 match threads will run on during the same week so effectively for 12 of 13 clubs there will be no second bye this season.

Finals dates will be brought forward 1 week.

Round 15 - Saturday, November 11, 2023
Ophidian Old Boys v West Coast Wonders @ Spotswood Oval

The OOBs are always happy to help where possible
Well, on that, I’m still big on having a carnival-type weekend where we play multiple games in a weekend. Will help shorten the season a bit and adds a bit of fun to one particular weekend each season. Call it something absolutely wild like Gather Round, or Magic Round, or maybe something original ;).
****er round?

Clarkes idea would resolve for this right?

Essentially have all teams play in the last week of the season before finals, only the Old Boys will play twice which negates the need for 12 of 13 teams to have a second bye

The final few rounds of the initial fixture probably weren't what the competition needed from an activity perspective, the revised fixture is better although still has its own oddities. While it does make more sense from a fixture perspective, having two teams playing in a standalone round on a Saturday disadvantages one club as they have to participate in two match threads with such club having been criticised in recent times for activity. Given it's the end of the season, that may have an effect on activity levels which then affects the two opposition clubs they have to play against during that week.

Not sure what fixture LJP is looking at!

That’s exactly what we’ve done 😂

I looked at both the original fixture and the revised fixture. The revised fixture allows for each club to have one game on the final weekend but is an unorthodox approach which disadvantages one club as I mentioned above.

I first queried why the split round was over the final two rounds for the same reason but alas, with everyone now playing in the final weekend, that’s worked out well.

OOB we’re happy to sacrifice and play two games for the betterment of all 12 other clubs. I’ve suggested to play out match mid week and not Saturday. But we’ll see if that transpires.

A midweek game would be better in the interests of fairness, perhaps on a Thursday. This would leave enough of a gap for the final round matches on Sunday. Logistics wise it would take a bit to organise but is certainly an option if it can be done.

An idea would be to have scheduled the last three games at regular intervals over the final two weeks of the home and away season and give all clubs the same amount of time to post for the matches they are to participate in. The logistics of such would potentially be challenging but we've seen people be accommodating in this competition before so it could certainly happen if there is an ability to.

Or we just have 12 teams and avoid this entire problem

This should be someone's admin platform, or at least a big consideration in the next election.
Everyone voted for a reserves comp last time round
