Today St kilda announced that utility Shane Birss amongst others has been delisted.
Im going to do a DTM here and suggest he would well be worth a shot.
Very good kick nice hands and is very tough and commited.
does not have huge natural ability at all but watching him play a fair bit this year what strikes me is he gives 100% in his games and really has a go.

Birss was used as aTagger this year with some success and showed he is not out of place in that position.
Saints fans on their board are actually not too happy he was let go and thought others needed to be shown the door before him.
We need a player who can tag and for mine Birss could fill that role and be a useful pickup.

Fact is he would come for nothing just a matter of whether he is worth having on the list.

Please dont comment if you havnt seen him play and assume he is crap just because the saints didnt think he was worth keeping.

I for one like the way he goes about his footy and would think Birss would add something to our team.

Reminds me of Shane O'Bree and I think one is enough in the side. I think the available spots on our list should be saved for hine to work his magic in the draft

Would rather take the punt and load up on kids.
Fair enough but IMO after the National Draft we will have more than enough kids and i dont think i would hurt to give him a go via the PSD, Numerous duds have been mentioned as possible pickups on the board so im mindfull not to add to that list because i really think he goes alright.

I wouldn't touch Birss. He does OK as a negative tagger but he offers nothing.
Very good kick for goal and can routinely roost them from 50. Pretty good disposal as well. Much better than say McQualter who actually does offer literally nothing offensively and I can't believe we delisted Birss instead.

Any club would be understandably skeptical but he would at least be worth a rookie spot at most clubs and deserves a shot.

Thought he was close to the worst player in the AFL whilst at the Bulldogs, shocked he was picked up then. Improved a tad at the saints, but still a dud.

Toovey's a better option.

If we are to pick him up in the PSD we would have to pass on a ND pick. This is due to the likliness of elevating mcaffer onto the senior list...

As for Birss, well if McQualter and the likes are being picked ahead of him at St Kilda, i really dont think he is worth a pinch of a salt.

sorry to sound negative, but really, not cutting at two seperate clubs speaks volumes!

Some people really dont have a clue  If they're any good they wouldnt be delisted, would they?

I'd rather have Alan Toovey.

Definitely not.
But little shocked he was delisted. Perhaps the Saints have a policy of
1 former Bulldog hack only, with Farren Ray coming in Shane Birss violated the rule ... see ya later Shane.

I threw up in my mouth a bit when I heard Kent on the radio a Collingwood supporter saying we should pick up Charlie Gardiner.

1. He is no good
2. How are we going to fit him in the forward line of Rocca, Cloke, Dawes, Anthony and Reid (possibly)?
3. How is he going to get a game ahead of those younger blokes?
4. We need to get games into those players
5. He is no good
6. He is one of the shittest players in the AFL. Just because he was on Geelongs list when they won a premiership his stocks rose. A shit player listed on a good team is still a shit player.

I'd be concerned if Birss was even on our radar. He should not enter into our calculations at all.

You forgot No.7. He is no good.

Not a chance, I thought this was a joke...... is definitely one of the worst players in the AFL.

NO WAY!

Yeehah, lets get him, and pick up Nick Davis, Charlie Gardner and some other usless duds.

He couldnt get a regular game at either the dogs or the saints, clearly showing he is not good enough for a top level AFL side, he might get a game at Melbourne or Freo, but not with a finals capable side.
