I can't believe that there has not been more discussion on our board about getting Shane Tuck - 27yrs old. The guy was leading Richmond's clearnances, hard ball gets and loose ball gets midway through the season until he was inexplicably told to play out the season in the VFL.
I put it to some astute Collingwood supporter to figure out which categories we get smashed in every single week....
If not a ball-winning defensive midfielder, at least he could become our tagger as he has all the right attributes. He may not be quick (niether is Ling btw) but he is tough, in-and-under and uncomprimising in his attack on the ball and man. I recognise that we have a lot of youth coming through but they still have a fair way to go to develop into body types that can compete with the men of Hawthorn, St Kilda and Geelong (I'm speaking of McCarthy, Sidebottom, Wellingham and to a lesser extent Beams).
If we can get him to our club for a reasonable price (say a 3rd or 4th round pick as it is a weak draft) then I reckon we will be getting an elite ball winner who can come in and make an immediate impact. He is the type of player who will inspire all others around him to be tougher and harder at the ball themselves.
For those that believe we can simply nab him if he enters the draft or preseason draft, we can't - he is contracted at Richmond for another year and has openly stated that he is desperate to be traded otherwise he knows he'll be spending the year playing in the VFL.
Thoughts?
